Oh the poor Welsh. Are they all dying of heat stroke?
Reminds me of the last time I was in Tassie in January. The news had a story telling the locals to prepare themselves to prepare for a 3 day heatwave.Predicted temps-28,29,28C.

Almost! Radio is promoting 'Slip, Slop, Slap" for the Bank Holiday weekend.

Glad to not be in London during this 'heatwave'.

If it was in a city maybe but not in Leongatha where she lives and she doesn't travel now. :(

I am looking through the photos and newspapers. I have a lot of PDF files with her mentioned as a young girl and also the article on her marriage but unfortunately the scans are not good enough to print - though I might be able to do something with them. Her marriage certificate is available on line but not her birth one unfortunately as I could have used it with some photos etc.

Bedding would be lovely but she just bought herself a new doona etc the other week :(

I have been toying with some kind of timeline thingy but will depend on what info I can draw on.

Have you tried Trove - they might have better copies of those articles and you could get a photo book made up - then she can also look at it and they're not too heavy

The place looks familiar. Is it near the old Holiday Inns or what is now Doubletree? Very busy place.

Heya John...yeah is on Mitchell, coupla blocks twrds town from DoubleTree, left side approaching city proper.

Busy depending on timing, good menu, excellent rainbow of liquor for desired coughtails of your imagining.

Worthy.

The PDFs I have are from Trove but I think I'll pop down to the NLA to look at the microfilms of the papers and see if I can get better copies.
I love the Trove site as there is so much interesting info there.

Also looking at possible a family 'tree' brooch with the names of her five children engraved but so far the only one I have seen is on Bradford Exchange - could work though it has 7 name spaces - maybe one for her, one for Dad and the 5 kids???

It's astounding; / Time is fleeting; / Madness takes its toll.

Bank holiday weekend in England and Wales and, shock!, petrol prices did NOT go up by 20p a litre just in time for the holiday as they do in QLD. What a primitive capitalist society they have here. Obviously they have never heard of the rediculous 'price cycle' we have in OZ supported by the Competition Commission.

BA has had their computers crash so if you wanted to fly with them you will be waiting.

Yes it's total chaos it seems. ALL BA flights out of LHR or LGW cancelled. People told to go home or not come to airports. Doesn't affect me in Wales! :)

The problem with the slippage that occurred in California just south of Big Sur is 1.5 million tons of rock and dirt covered Highway One and down to the ocean below. The road that is covered by this land slip is one third of a mile long.
I have loved driving this highway but it will be a while before this problem is fixed.

You can say that again. A brave Authority that re-opens any of the road along there, ever again (I reckon it'll have to be tunnelled).

Watching Rhino Orphanage and they are removing the horns to try to save them from poachers.

Horrifyingly to watch but I understand why. The pressure these people put themselves under, to save an entire species, is humbling.

Interesting they are removing them. When we were in South Africa we were told about how they inject the horns with something (I forget now) which basically renders them worthless but allows the rhinon to keep their horn.

Salvos at the door for Red Shield appeal.

Husband just gave them $15 in 5 cent coins. Poor girls.
