Well done the Saints.I am a long time Eagles supporter(I used to be a North Sydney Bears supporter so it kinda fits). When they got done I switched to the Vikings but after they went down it was always going to be the Saints.

I'm a Cardinals fan, we did well last season, but lost the plot this season. I'm travelling Arizona ( and South Dakota) in Aug/Sept this year, so hope to see a few good games...........

Cheers Dee

Does the offer ask you to pay off your existing debt first; before you can add more.
No it does not but I am one step ahead of them. By tomorrow all debt on the credit card will be paid off and today I increased the credit limit to $12,000. By Wednesday I will try to balance transfer $11,900 from other credit card.

Then use that credit card to balance transfer from another credit card and then use that credit card to balance transfer from another credit card. Both of these credit cards have 20.74% interest and balance transfers at 5.99% so effectively I will be paying 7.99% on $11,900, 5.99% on $11,900 and 5.99% $11,900 for 6 months instead of the normal 20.74%.

How can you think of holidays when you got that kind of credit card debt. Yes a holiday is great for your sanity but I think that credit card debt would have more effect on my sanity. :-|
My sanity is a lot more important that the credit card debt. By the way I am not saying that credit card debt is good but I need to get away every 3 months or so to clear my mind.

The credit card debt is a burden and although I can get away from it easily I need to be very careful as I am just as likely to run up a huge credit card debt again in a few years. Believe me when I say I am better off paying interest on credit cards.

What is the purpose of a credit card?
Good question. Initially it was easy access to money. Not a problem when the credit limit was low.

Are there people out there that just live month-in-month-out simply using a credit card but only paying the minimum amount?
Yes and I know many more in that situation.

Has anyone ever advanced on their card before and why? (WCAMC excluded) The interest piles on immediately after the transaction....
Gambling!

I just want to know what are the "typical" credit card usages/behaviours, because I don't know any different to using the card and paying the full balance off each month. In a sense, I use my card to leverage money.
The people who pay their card off every month are the minority. Read the reports, look around you. People easily get themselves into trouble as they are given more and more debt and not an easy way to pay it off.

I'm a bit too scared to think what would happen to my credit history if I don't pay off my account in full each month (although I did come very close recently)...
Nothing would happen to your credit rating. My credit rating is still very good as I do not default on credit card payments and do not default on loan repayments.

Well, just to let you all know, we've found a temporary fix for our frazzled fridge. Dad managed to find a rental agency that've rented us a couple of fridges for a month. Very decent price and they're in good nick; much cheaper than Radio Rentals....

Technician is coming tomorrow afternoon to inspect the old fridge and give a repair quote; hopefully we can claim it back on the home & contents insurance.

LW thanks so much again for offering your fridge. FWIW I had enough trouble rearranging the stuff in our old fridge to fit in our two temporary rental fridges (well, one is a fridge/freezer and the other is just a freezer). Oh, the pains of having a mother who stocks up on everything!

I think we'll be having leftovers for most of this week....

At least you were left food. My parents have gone away and all I have is a freezer full of fish that Dad has caught. Anyone know how to debone a fish? Or should I just bake it and deal with the bones when I eat it?

I can't fillet/debone a fish.

The Asian thing to do most commonly is to cook it with the bones then deal with it later.

That sounds like how I would do it, the lazy way :D

I can finally relax, now. Just finished work, been working on a urgent job for the past 13 hours. What a great start to the week ....... not!

Thanks!

Baked fish it is till the freezer is empty. Then when I run out I will grab my fishing rod and licence and walk down to the lake.

I feel like (mis)quoting Yakov Smirnoff:

It's so true! I was really looking forward to a quiet week. January is suppose to be the 'quiet month' of the year, and it was anything but that. Good for business though......

How many ways can you bake fish? (This is not saying, "there aren't many ways" but rather how many do you know)

I wouldn't like to think that you're just going to burn through a whole lot of butter, parsley and lemon?

In IT sales, hell no! That is when all the RAs from the Christmas rush come in, and it is another rush because all the suppliers you need to sort out the RAs with drag their feet to open up again!

As for IT consulting, well, no ideas here. Perhaps the time is ripe to get some work done before the year starts in earnest, hence "no time" for downtime or the like......it almost becomes too easy to define every month with a reason why it would be busy.

Mum normally bakes the fish in alfoil so I was thinking that would be the easiest option.

Butter, parsley and lemon I do have access to. There's about 3 things of butter in the freezer, we grow parsley and the neighbours encourage us to pick lemons off the branches that hang into our yard.

We've done a lot of server upgrades, and rebuilds over the past 6 weeks ; I guess the clients see it as being a good time.

As they say ... most application upgrades and such are always done over Easter or Christmas; don't we work in such a great industry

Sounds on the mark!

Look on the bright side - what if one (or more) of your clients was a bank, or the military? You'd probably need to transfuse your blood with caffeine, or rocket fuel.

We've been processing a "normal" number of orders. It was sluggish for the first few weeks of Jan, but we've gotten back in to the swing of things.

Am v glad that most of my customers go in to network freeze mode over Christmas and New Year!

Yeah so true. I can't count how many nights and weekends I lost while on call / doing upgrade projects / testing and various other things that could only be done while the users were out having fun / sleeping or other nocturnal/weekend activities.

Yep. That's where my weekend is going to be this week.
