Had a busy day with the thermomix today :). Made a tomato soup, then a pumpkin, sweet potatoe and pear soup, then a spinach and feta cheese Frittata and think I will make some custard now to go with the Stewed apple for dessert. That's lunches for the rest of the week.

Great game by the Dockers tonight.:p:p:p:p
Takes great skill to let the Lions score 121 points.:shock:;)

I have a kale forest. I put it finely shredded in or under almost everything, except maybe in my porridge. ;)

I laugh about kale becoming a super food. My Italian father would treat them as weeds.

Someone labels something a "super food", and people lose theirs minds over it.

I've always liked cauliflower, steamed with a bit of butter and salt. Yummy.

How thoroughly do you need to clean the unit between all of those dishes to ensure you don't get the smell or taste from one dish into the other?

Pumpkin, sweet potato and pear - that sounds like quite a combination.

So looking forward to Japan the week after next, last time I was there (apart from transit in Narita) was in the early eighties when I was very much a backpacker staying in youth hostels and counting every penny (or yen). This time, at least I don't have to worry about the cost of things.

Wonder how much this view has changed?

Can't wait. :)

not much really. It is a stainless steel jug, so a quick wash and dry, without taking it apart and you are fine. I did run it through the dishwasher before doing the custard. One of the things I like about it, is that it all comes apart and goes in the dishwasher.

The pumpkin one is terrific - the sweet potatoe and pear complement the pumpkin nicely - do need to use brown pears though.

Well Nairobi is interesting. Getting to the hotel there's a street lined near the Intercontinental with hookers, how fun!

Stained the hotel bed sheet the other night with chicken and chocolate ice cream. Wife couldn't get the stains out. The housekeeper left the sheet on the floor.

I went golf yesterday and housekeeper wanted to talk to wife. Wanted THB600 for bed sheet to be sent to be cleaned. Wife said too much and has to ask husband and husband can talk to management. Housekeeper didn't want that to happen. I asked wife to take it to laundry. THB100 for bed sheet to be cleaned.

Housekeeper trying on a nice little scam?

An interesting combination. :p

As for the stain, surely that is part of running a hotel? Sheets get dirty.

So what is security like these days? We were going through metal detectors into our hotel and had armed guards when we were there in 2014. Has it calmed down a bit? The traffic from the airport into the city is crazy, but it gives lots of time to look at the vultures in the trees. I think I am suffering Africa withdrawal symptoms :)

I think if a guest stains the sheets (as opposed to normal activity) it's ok for the hotel to ask for compensation, either to get specialty cleaning or new sheets. Activity that is going to stain can reasonably be conducted elsewhere (like at a table).

Sheets get dirty but some of the stains are difficult to get out. I can understand a small charge but not a charge that is more than the cost of buying a new bed sheet.

Funny things you do after a few drinks. Bought takeaway chicken and chips. Then had a haircut. Then had a hot dog. Then bought takeaway spaghetti so daughter can have some as well. Then bought the ice cream. Then ate on the bed. The chicken was messy with the sweet chilli sauce. And obviously the ice cream added to the mess.

Well, I'm glad I've already had lunch after reading that.

No, housekeeper probably costing commercial cost of sheet special cleaning including time etc. I couldn't imagine making a mess like that and not going to the hotel and offering to replace the sheet with new. Yuk!
