Apart from missing one 'KUL' you have done very well.

Oh, I am going home via BNE.

Congrats. Remind me to buy you a drink when our paths cross on a cruise ship next year. ;)

Jesus, John. You have a kid to keep healthy, a kid that had a rough start in life. Go to a cleaner hotel.
The hotel is fine. Wife loves the hotel and location. Tiled floors are not dirty but wife knows haven't been cleaned because her falling hair still on floor. Not going to let a housekeeper spoil our stay.

P.S. The $7-$15/night stays including breakfast for 2 in October are fantastic. Wish JQ sent more $25 vouchers to cover the other 4 nights. ;)

once you get clear of the Johannesburg area you would be fine. Botswana itself is wonderful - lovely country and the northern Transvaal is pretty good too.

We prefer to fly though - maximise game viewing :). I am in the process of booking Giraffe Manor, Sala's Camp (Maasai Mara), Segera (Laikipia Kenya) then Bisate Lodge in Rwanda to visit the Gorillas, then Tanzania - Mara River Camp, Sabora and Sasakwa which are all Singita properties. Pretty much light planes between all of them, except one leg between Nairobi and Kigali which will be Kenyan Air. We are hoping to see the great migration but it is all a bit of luck really, as it can be early or late, so you have no idea.

It must be the year for it! I have just found a friend to join me for a trip next year - with a hopeful itinerary of Giraffe Manor and Sasakawa - the later for their stables. It is my bucket list to do a horseback safari so 2018 it will be ticked off.

oh fantastic :). We were in Singita in 2014 (did Sabora, Faru Faru and Sasakwa). We talked to a couple of people who had just finished a horseback Safari and they said it was wonderful.

we have just booked Giraffe Manor in September 2018 and really struggled to get days, so I would prioritise that. When in 2018 are you going? We might see each other :)

*gag* dead hair on the floor is hideously gross in my books. I cannot stand it, especially other people's hair. That would warrant a call to housekeeping.

I've managed to stain several pillow cases (and top of sheet) in my time when I have stayed soon after I've had red dye in my hair. I've always left a note apologising and asking them to speak with me if there is an issue and never heard a peep. I now travel with a black pillow case!

Oh really? I might go and grab dates if possible. Will be July/ August - might be having a milestone birthday...

I actually have about 4 tabs open at the moment for riding options. I'm going to do some prep work and actually get back in a saddle beforehand and brush up on my skills so am looking at the places that offer it as an alternative to a drive vs spending several days on horseback moving around between camps.

Love the strings.

I was heading to bed and stumbled across the Crowded House concert from the Sydney Opera House steps. I am still gutted I missed tickets to it.

They released their Recurring Dreams album in my Uni days and it's been the soundtrack for so many memories for me. Very nostalgic for a Sunday night.

And to the other extreme...already set the box to record the Tonys tomorrow! Have been exploring a bit of the music Dear Evan Hansen and enjoying it. And of course, that led me down the rabbit hole of YouTube clips which invariably leads me to Audra McDonald.

sounds a good idea - I have never ridden a horse, but I know the concept of saddle soreness. :)

Giraffe Manor has Giraffe Manor itself and a newer wing, Garden Manor. You can only book into the Garden Manor, if you have booked one of the other camps. We couldn't get dates we wanted in Giraffe Manor, so ended up booking a camp in addition so we could book into Garden Manor. I have just checked the availability for July and August 2018 and it looks very full in Giraffe Manor, but the Garden wing has availability.

sounds like a perfect way to celebrate a special birthday :)

The transfer bus in BNE is a shambles. No crowd control and people blatantly queue jumping.
It was like that the last (only) time we flew into BNE and in that occasion the luggage transfer wasn't working so everyone had their bags.
Coming through there at the end of July on the same flight number as you so hope it's a lot better on that day.

You don't know?

Son and partner arrived first thing this am on Bangkok air into Sydney. Made the customs/bus/dash transfer to Tiger Dom flight to Adelaide in just over the hour - skin of teeth - and flight delayed due to fog.

Two nights with a humidifier at night and I notice both mornings I wake up without sinus pressure/headache, not coughing like crazy in the morning and my face skin feels softer.

Now to find the right spot for it in the bedroom. Night #1, was like having a Himalayan cloud cover over the bed (bad), night #2 closer to the door was much better.

Perhaps I should be planning a trip to Egypt instead..cruising down De Nile...

Does that mean your coughcat visitor will be leaving? I wonder if Master cat will miss her.

Yes. Either tonight or tomorrow. Not sure if she is driving up to Port Pirie tonight.

I hope she doesn't weigh her! She's a cuddly minx. When she knows she's done something wrong she scuttles off upstairs. Today I caught her walking across the balustrade with a drop of two metres below!

We've had a cat hanging around for about 2 weeks now. We dont feed it but it seems to like our front garden to sleep in at night, and it sets off the sensor lights all the time.

We've named it Creepy Cat.
