Good to see times are changing. Wasn't that long ago you had a pretty wicked view of JQ...
I still have a wicked view of JQ. Don't have much respect for an airline that thinks it's ok to move passengers around after they have paid for seat selection.

Husband just phoned, sale of house has been settled.

As a seller, it was all surprisingly very easy. $10K less than our asking price but lots of reasons why we're OK with that, contracts exchanged within 4 days of listing the house and we are done.

Well done Denali - it's a good feeling to have a sale done and dusted! :) 10K is neither here nor there in the overall scheme of things IMO. Take a reasonable offer when it's made and don't quibble is my motto.
An acquaintance of my mother was wanting to sell their home on a large block in country Victoria as they were getting past looking after the garden. Got in an agent to appraise and make arrangements. Turns out he had a cash buyer right ready who wanted exactly their type of house and wanted to settle in 60 days. They knocked it back as they 'couldn't possibly' move out in 60 days! (They have family in the town who could help and plenty of other assistance if needed). Not sure if they managed to eventually sell or not in the end. I would have taken the bird in the hand if I were them.

Thanks. My husband was prepared to lower the price if the market dictated it so $10K wasnt a issue.

And this was before we had to redo the kitchen and bathroom which HAD to be done before we rented it so other than cost of a skip, new letter box and our yard cleanup, we didnt have to do anything to it.

*happy dance*

Life is weird. Tonight I was asking son from Sydney if he watched Bloodlines. Random comment as he's been home for four months now. Turned over to Channel 10 about 15 minutes later and lo and behold there's the main character of Bloodlines (Aussie Ben Mendolsen who won an award for his character) talking about Bloodlines.

There's a name for that phenomena - something German sounding? Seems to happen so often.
E.g. You haven't seen someone for years and randomly think about them. Shortly thereafter you see them.

Fremdschämen, or Backpfeifengesicht, or Freundschaftsbezeigungen?

Anything I learnt about Australian/VFL history is how many people of German heritage anglicised their surnames due to WW1.

Younger son remembered. It's the Baader Meinhoff phenomenon.

I saw a magpie-lark swoop a magpie today.

You think it's a coincidence? It's definitely not a coincidence.

When will the arrogance end?

Let's just keep burying our heads in the sand, that'll solve everything.

Sad.

Husband drove past old house as we still had 3 sets of keys to give to the agent (we were checking the house during the settlement period) and he says there was a truck at the front of the house with guys in hazmat suits so I guess the asbestos garage and outside dunny is going asap.

Bumped into someone from the RSL social golf club outside our hotel last night. It's a small world.

And in 3 weeks you will bump into someone you have played golf with in Chiang Rai.Indeed a small world.;)
