Apple bouquet today...

1year 11month old iPhone - no extended warranty
Battery dying - charge indicator goes from 30% to 4 %
Took into Apple Store this morning.
Walkup Genius Bar appointment - told 1.5 he but actually waited 1 hr
Tested iPhone
Battery test results on borderline between "good" and "consumed"
Quoted $120 to replace battery
1.5 hour turnaround
Came back
They said - it's better to give you a new iPhone - exact same model
No charge!!

Very happy.

I don't think they actually replace the battery, so was a little surprised when they quoted a battery replacement - they said battery replacement was problematic because of some "tabs" under the battery. Was not worth risking a battery change. I think they just replace the phone

They generally not replacing with brand new phones but rather refurbed phones from their own store. Still my replacement works perfectly until batt gets below 40% again and then it drops really quickly. I took it back again and they are aware of prob and will replace again if I want to. I am just waiting for the 8 to come out in Sept and update then - my 2yr contract actually expires this month.

experienced the Bose Soundlink Revolve Bluetooth speaker.

Very nice. Surprising the sound that comes out of these units.

Yes Im waiting for the 8 as well. Hopefully not too long. Then can hand current phone down to dependants in family

No not display phones - they are refurbed by Apple in back of their stores - I know some are done in Chadstone and Southland in MEL - not sure exactly which stores do them. They get a % of faulty phones straight up and these go through the process - I have a good contact I will try to get fuller details and post back.

Reports are that early Sept still release timing for 8s - that's 10yrs post original iPhone launch.
