Did anyone else watch the Olympic Winter Games opening ceremony?

Was truly spectacular, loved the light show and the whales were amazing! Singers were all good too, only issue was the lighting of the cauldron really, shame about that, but was absolutely fantastic.

Shame about the Georgian luger, but the stadium all standing as the Georgian team entered was really nice.

I was hoping to see Bublé performing, but hopefully he’ll do the closing ceremony.

watched a little bit of the opening ceremony.

looking forward to the foxtel coverage really :D

I am back from New Zealand; I had a couple of interesting flights. I think I need to go back again. The free wifi thanks to Serfty was pretty handy. McDonalds is the place in the International terminal for the free Qantas wifi. In the Air New Zealand terminal then the best place is generally between Air NZ ticketing(right of check in) and the 2 luggage carousels for the jet flights.

What made this trip very easy was the fact that I was in New Zealand only 2 months earlier. As I was in Napier 2 months ago meant that I could get in and out of the place in 5 minutes; the plane I was on was late arriving and the departing flight on a separate airline was on time. Yeah I should do a trip report.

This Brisbane heat is dam annoying; I have checked the forecast for next Saturday seems to be fine with a 20-29 temperature range which is not too bad for Brisbane.

Dad wouldn’t pay for the extra package for us, so we’re stuck with free-to-air, however lately our Foxtel box has been stalling late at night and failing to record shows, so even if we had the package, we mightn’t see what we want :p

M4 road toll (Sydney) to cease from 16 February.

I think this goes part of the way to recognising the importance of the day of my birth. Don't be too surprised if this day also becomes a State Public Holiday possibly even a National Holiday. :p

Always great to see tolls being removed. There are too many cases of tolls not being removed when they are due to be removed (Gateway Bridge in Brisbane is a perfect case, although they are now duplicating it, so the toll will be there for much longer). Although there is always the question of whether the Govt should pay for maintenance on those kinds of roads or not.

I think this goes part of the way to recognising the importance of the day of my birth.

Well happy Birthday for tomorrow.

There's a weird Qantas advert on the tube (and also on the Qantas website) of a bloke lying in a bath in New Zealand.

Come Walkabout NZ Jan10

The tube version of the advert is different though. It says
"Discover New Zealand with Qantas
Return Economy flights from £862*
ex London Heathrow to Auckland.

Explore more of this amazing country with the Qantas Walkabout pass, offering one-way fares to internal destinations for as little as £36* each"

In the fine print (which is quite fuzzy on the mobile phone camera shot I took of the advert for later reference), it basically says : Flight from London to Los Angeles is with British Airways, Internal NZ flights are with Jetstar".

Let's see... that sounds like a "Qantas" holiday to me. And I'm sure you could get one way flights on JQ NZ for less than 36 pounds. I'm not even sure that having the JQ flights on the same booking would give much more protection...

(Note the website is cheaper and suggests routing through SIN/BKK/SYD etc. )

My birthday is a national holiday this year, so nerr!

I'm going to give you an Easter Egg which will double as your birthday present Mr Showoff.

By the way Flashware, how's the running going? I was up at 0530 Saturday morning training. Then Sunday was swim training. Tonight I'm training for the drinking.......

That's a bit cruel if his birthday is for example on Christmas day. Although I'm pretty sure it must be around Easter... ;)

I also share my birthday with a special day (once every 6 years or so as it's one of those "day" based celebrations). It doesn't happen this year though.
