Happy birthday John; don't drink too much; we should have had the AFF drinks night on the Tuesday instead of a Wednesday.

What else is there to say; not much.

I received a call from Flight Centre Corporate; I wasn't really interested in what she had to offer; basically she said how much they could save us on flights and accommodation. They offer a benchmark tool on how much you can save by using one. I didn't buy it, she said so I book the flights online and you can only see 5 fare classes, and she said that Flight Centre could see 12, yes I knew that and you can find out what is available by a different method. Then she said she had 10 years experience and I said great; yes I am sure you know more about car hire and accommodation but I am sure I could equal them on any flight query. They were not happy. Lucky my regular TA knows I like planes and can usually find a cheap fare when I ask them to book it they usually don't argue. For simple stuff I just do it myself, but for overseas stuff then I use the TA."Not Flight Centre"

Hopefully I won't hear from them again and I get taken off their call records. :-|

I wish Optus and Telstra would get the hint and stop ringing me.

Thanks again for the birthday wishes. Hopefully I can retire in 4 years time but will settle for retirement in 9 years time....

I assume you weren't born in 1923  (and neither 1980 ) , so you were probably not born on CNY. Would be interesting for some to be born on CNY.
Don't you just hate it when people start bringing logic into the conversation. :p

I have my Uni Graduation ceremony tonight

We get fireworks at the end! Woohoo!

Fireworks and a sheep skin. Not a bad deal at all!

It's funny how we were instructed to behave at our Graduation ceremony. We were told to be orderly, but since we were being recorded, feel free to smile, laugh and wave at the cameras.

One person hugged the Chancellor as he received his testamour.

Or rather, we didn't receive our testamour on the stage - we receive a blank tube :p, after filing off stage we go to the back where there is a table and a few ladies who, after supplying your name, give you your testamour which you then put into the tube you received on stage.

Anyway, I'm rambling on. Congratulations D1 :D

One of my degrees has a typo. It was conferred on the eighteeth day of December. Would be funny if I was a dentist.

That's the problem with buying degrees online - they don't always spell everything properly :D

For some additional study I did, I got a degree from one institution, and then that institution folded back into it's parent, and I got a new degree from them.

That is pretty weird.

Ha ha ha I went to the University of Canberra.

I remember when my friends dared me to drive up the Vice Chancellors' driveway. He lived on campus and I drove up the driveway then turned around and drove off. Was convinced I was going to get busted.

That's what Mal said about buying degrees.

So that's why the NSW dept of education said I'm not educated enough to teach? I have a bachelor of education but because my degrees come from Canberra Uni they don't count for much. I was wondering why I had been working in a cafe.

Wanders off to work out how to use new phone. So far I have managed to turn it on......

Once you learn how to:
  • Make calls
  • Receive calls
  • Send SMS
  • Receive SMS
...there's probably not a lot more that matters in the short term:!:

On a slightly more related-to-last-post (*gasp* rebel!), it's amazing how universities go to extraordinary lengths to recruit students to study at their university, yet as you progress through uni and graduate, eventually a lot of people (including staff at the uni) realise that the university from where you obtained your degree is usually of little significance. Well, at least in Australia anyway. Very surprised at your situation, karens. :-| :(

I realised this in high school when some guy from QUT came to try and convince us why doing a Maths degree would be cool. Someone asked him, "should I go to UQ or QUT?" He said it doesn't matter. Gee, thanks.

I think which school or university you attended really only matters in old-tie Asian countries (like Singapore or the Philippines) and elitist societies (like the US and possibly the UK).

In the US, if you went to the same college group (viz. fraternity or sorority) as someone you're trying to negotiate with, apparently you're already a good deal of the way to getting a successful outcome. Then again, I only really learnt this from TV
