The totally off-topic thread

So yesterday I worked back in the office and the cleaner thought it was funny to make comments about me being there and how "its must be daylight savings because Denali is here!"

The cleaner.

I pulled him into an office and told him that I start 60, 90mins before everyone else in the office, I work from home, I work weekends and I work while on annual leave and if he has another bloody comment to make, embarrassing me in front of other staff then his contract will be cancelled.

I hate outsiders that think they can police my time and not have a freaking clue. (and I rather go home/have dinner & work than stay in the office).

You might need this.

They always seem to forget that smoking can effect you too!

However still be careful with that Roundup don't breath it in !!!

When spraying it around

Not unlike many here who see the need the clear their little block of land to build the biggest house they can on the plot. (Though done on their behalf by the developer)

Just near us on the Sunny Coast is "the last beach front land being developed" the first released blocks 450 sq m just sold for $ 640,000 !!!

Problem is I have a very, very big screen so no one can see me behind it. They just assume Im here (behind the screen) or online at home.

When we went to Easter Island and the US in march, interstate people didnt even know I was on leave as I was online most days.

A short look through the google search ......https://authoritynutrition.com/roundup-glyphosate-and-health/

..Roundup is a highly debated topic these days. Some studies claim that the active ingredient, glyphosate, may be increasing the risk of many diseases (4, 5).

However, Roundup contains more than just glyphosate. It also contains a lot of other ingredients, which help make it a potent weed killer. Some of these ingredients may even be kept secret by the manufacturer and called inerts (7).

Several studies have actually found that Roundup is significantly more toxic to human cells than just glyphosate (8, 9, 10, 11, 12).

Therefore, studies showing safety of isolated glyphosate may not apply to the entire Roundup mixture, which is a blend of many chemicals.

Oh my goodness !! That's a lot of round up!!!!

There use to be a blackberry tree poison that even the people who handled it every day said you should glove and hazmat suit up before you touch it.... miss those days! (still have a bottle of the stuff, think its sitting in the hallway last time I saw it).

:) Can never have enough!

Or those who don't have a big block and don't want trees in the way? Roots don't take any notice of concrete or even foundations.

That bottle in the centre with the hole in it worries me.

Thats what made it cheap! Dont worrry, car cleaned and bottles used/stored safely afterwards. I have no concerns about handling, being around or using RUP.

In my younger days, like most other school leavers in Canberra, I did a stint with Parks and Gardens, or Weeds and Seeds as we called it. Along with pruning some of the roses in front of old parliament house, and cutting grass in the parliamentary triangle, I also had a time in spray section.

I shudder when I think about it now, we were using 2,4,5t out near the Cotter River to spray blackberries, Chlordane on ant's nest near bus stops and lot's of other nasty poisons.

I remember my old boss emptying some weedicide into our drum of water, put his hand in and give it a quick mix, without gloves, then packing his pipe with tobacco and having a smoke. We did wear overalls and gloves, most of the time, I used to take the overalls home for mum to wash!

At least with an s5 you can replace the battery easily.

I would fully charge it, then reboot and see how it goes.

The S5 had some issues with battery performance as I remember. There was a software upgrade / battery refresh method somewhere. Don't own one anymore after very poor battery performance.

I'll try that tonight. By reboot you mean "Restart".

Getting close to end of contract and hopefully S7 soon. Will give the S5 to mum and dad so we can have video calls daily and they can keep in touch with granddaughter.

Our old weatherboard place was always damp inside overnight. Bad ventilation.

1935 build for us and British built which I've generally found to be poor so sounds similar!

Recently bought an S8. Always hated Samsung for phones and this is no exception. Battery life on this has been worse than my old phone which lasted nearly 2 years and only cost £100. Unfortunately it's the only Android option that allows me to use one of client's mail solution.

I remember the first winter we were in Canberra (1983). We had condensation on the inside of windows and used to sit wrapped up in rugs to keep warm. Maybe I've got tougher now (though I think it was a cold winter that year). We did buy a place in the September and had gas ducted heating put in a year or so later. The little Vulcan electric wall heaters didn't really do a lot.
