Quite a mixture today, mr shouty in the lounge in Sydney, didn't really need a phone, why do they think everyone needs to hear about them and their boring lives, I've always thought that is the reason why fb existed.
QF23 was about 1 and 1/2 hours late leaving Sydney, the person behind me thought the 'touch' screen was actually a 'push very hard' screen and the harder you jabbed your finger at the screen the faster things would happen
Screaming child for a considerable period of time, and I mean considerable, next to nothing new on the ife from 4 weeks ago, mind you imo most of it is cough anyway.

Fortunately we'll be up at the pointy end tomorrow morning, don't like being down the back anymore! :)

Ugh - I have really started to dislike the whole getting ready to go on holiday. The holiday bit itself is great - just the lead up to it I can do without.

Guarantee that work will get busy, needing to get house ready for house sitter, across town in peak traffic to drop the cat at the vet, packing etc etc...
True, but you'd rather stay home? :):)

Hmmm ... Looks suspiciously on-topic to me.

Now that more and more content can be added to the IFE I don't really think the designers have thought much about the layout, there is always new things but its hidden with all the cough I don't want to see.

I am surprised they couldn't develop a program that would tell you what people had been watching.

I planned last weeks trip with one way QF and one way VA that way I would never run out of IFE to see.

Wind chill pretty bad again this morning. I don't understand how people get about in t-shirts. I can feel the chill with 3 layers of clothing.

I have not worn more than 1 layer while in Sydney this winter.
(...concede I don't spend the entire day outdoors)

For me it's cold when the outside temp is colder than the freezer - that's usually -15C. Other temps are really only "crisp"

I realise I'm getting old and I may be a snob as well, but I must be in a minority in not wanting to watch, imo, low rent, unfunny american sitcoms. 2 Uk comedies on the TV channel, The IT Crowd and Stag, unless I missed some, which is quite possible!

I love to get ready to go on holiday. It means that I'm being rewarded for my hard work. Just wish I could be on holidays more often and longer.

As for work unless you are running your own business I couldn't care how busy work gets. I'll leave for holidays on time and when I return to work will work normal hours.

I'm almost at the stage where I can transition to 12 weeks of leave/year with a combination of paid and unpaid leave.

Sitting on the management side myself, I can see why that might happen. It's because if they're not happy they negatively impact the rest of the team, so if they're not happy - ship out!
Absolutely.

Or management can find out what's wrong and try to fix the issues? No that would be too easy. It's much easier to alienate everyone and not care why people are unhappy.
From a management perspective I can assure you that it's actually a relief when some people walk in and resign. I never took it lightly though because, amongst other things the cost of replacement was up to $100,000 in initial training costs.

Other people you try to help but ultimately if someone wants to leave you cannot stop them.

We had similar looking queues for a LAN domestic flight from Santiago a few years ago. Our daughter (who speaks Spanish) asked if there were any priority lines. They looked perplexed for a moment and then they carved a corridor through the masses and took us to the front of the line.

Venice was similar a couple of years ago. Thank god for priority lines. Still took around 45 minutes though.

If only it was that easy. I have a high level of responsibility and other people depend on me producing work for their deadlines so there is just no walking out.

All done now bar a contract revision, house cleaned, cat dropped off, and about to go collect my friend from the airport.
