If you dont already have it, I strongly suggest this app for your phone.

Emergency Plus (Emergency+).

You open it, it will give you GPS coords, google map location, 000, SES, Police, poison info phone numbers plus many others - just on your phone.

The location/address/gps thing is what I found most important because sometimes we are just driving somewhere and we witness something happening but not sure on the location.

Hi, just tried looking for this but not in the iPhone App Store. Is it only available for Android or does it only apply to Australia? Cheers

Everytime a female employee goes to a particular factory of ours, the factory manager says, "Dont forget to bring a cake or goodies for morning tea". To the point that these people feel pressured to do it and are out of pocket.

He has never once requested the same from a male staff making an appointment to visit the site.

After my conversation with him today, he will never say it again.

morning tea is not a man thing.

at our sports comp day it's always the ladies who bring the morning tea cakes and bikkies and the men who do the shovelling (with spade not shovelling into mouth). In 10 years it has never been otherwise. In particular the volunteer roster is gender agnostic

Separately is it possible the female employees perhaps are less assertive than the male employees. The blokes would most likely if asked get something dodgy or less appetising for morning tea or make some excuse like oh sorry I forgot or I did not have the time. It's a common view that it's no use asking men to provide morning tea or food. Something like this always ask the ladies. Even the ladies who organise a get together always lean in her lady friends for this and lean on the men to either just tag along or being the beer/heavy stuff

Unless its food that needs to be burnt always ask the ladies.

Not liking this Melbourne weather. How is this the world's most livable city? I ask you.

Macedon ranges yesterday morning.

Well the Socceroos have shot themselves in the foot.

Whereas Warner scores one of his slowest 50's.

I sit at the airport and see people with either just a handbag or no carry on at all and I wonder what it would be like, to travel with such freedom.

Whats their story, why dont they have a laptop or ipad at the very least. How do they just get on a plane somewhere with nothing but a boarding pass.

All their stuff is checked luggage probably.
Either that or just a quick day trip. My iPad goes in my handbag.

Yes but there are people (men) with no bags at all or ladies with small hobo bags that dont carry much.

Such freedom, Im jealous. Because of my husband, its like he pack mules the house wherever we go.

You go to the Airport, and just sit there watching other people and what their baggage is like on any given day?

Hahahah, nah. Just sitting at the gate waiting for my flight and wondering what peoples stories are.

Even a day trip, I have a wheel carry-on or a large tote bag (my regular handbag is small). And my husband, he comes with me and does his own thing while Im working but he always has a backpack full of camera gear, laptop ect.

I rarely travel without my laptop, at least, even for a daytrip (work can call at any time) and its carry-on, of course. I also envy those who can travel very light.

Of course some travelling light have their PA or similar two steps behind, carrying all their stuff ...

I sometimes wish I was that IKEA type person - those that can live the minimal lifestyle - and can survive with hardly any clothes or possessions  that is definitely NOT me. I have decided the time has come to clean out my wardrobes ( walk in /and 2 spare rooms ) so next month while Ron is in Tassie - the major purge will occur - as long as I survive todays dental extraction

I do this frequently AND have no checked luggage. This is what happens when you live in Adelaide and also work in Melbourne and lease an apartment there. It is total freedom indeed. Kinda. But then I have to remember what clothing I have in Mel and in Adelaide. That gets confusing. But I have a full set of the essentials in Melb including makeup and the usuals. In my bag on the flight I have wallet, phone, ipad and a kit of chargers, ear phones, and keys. That's it!

Periodically I clear out a few boxes because our aim is to rebuild a house in about 2-3yrs time (Im in no rush because I know its going to be painful) so slowly clearing out stuff.

Hubby is the horder of cough. I can travel for 4 weeks with carry-on only, him on the other hand is about 30kgs of stuff. Most, he wont touch during the entire trip!

I still carry a few things on day trips - which comes out of having done a day trip before and having a flight cancelled and being left with the clothes I was in only. Wallet was not much use as everything was closed. Ended up having to overnight in hotel (firm I was interviewing for paid) and being bused from Invercargill to Queenstown the next morning (airport still closed) and then sitting in Queenstown Airport for 1/2 a day - again with virtually no where to buy anything!

For long haul trips now - I always have a change of clothes, my make up, hair straighteners, medication, chargers, iPad etc etc

You're like the kid that can see dead people.

Not everyone needs to have a laptop or iPad with them at all times. I carry my laptop back and forth between SYD and BNE but I don't need it during the trip. I'm hoping to fix that soon by having a laptop in both places. When I travel overseas laptop stays here.

I'm not sure what sort of society we have created. I was thinking of what we did when we went to school. No phones. No ipads. No ipods. Not even a house phone. We used to meet up at the park on weekends and play league/soccer/cricket. Life was fun. Life was simple.

I see kids today. Smartphones with all the apps installed. Ipads. Ipods with complicated headphones. Spare batteries to charge the gadget batteries.

Someone has taken away our freedom. We are now slaves.
