If you dont already have it, I strongly suggest this app for your phone.

Emergency Plus (Emergency+).

You open it, it will give you GPS coords, google map location, 000, SES, Police, poison info phone numbers plus many others - just on your phone.

The location/address/gps thing is what I found most important because sometimes we are just driving somewhere and we witness something happening but not sure on the location.

Hi...Down to our last lot of wood so thinking of giving away the open fireplace and installing one of those gas fired real flame fireplaces instead..have no idea what make or what is the best buy...would need a decent heat output but we do have gas central heating too..Do you buy now or wait till Summer sales - perhaps it does not make any difference but anyone with any tips/experience on what to look for would be gratefully received. I am in Melbourne and its feels like one of the coldest winters to me, sad to see the open fire go but the price of wood is crazy

Not my jibe but someone else's. I don't usually bother with correcting other's spelling as that usually means I'll make a doozy shortly thereafter. I actually checked spelling of bandana because I thought I'd spelt it incorrectly.

We have central airconditioning in our home that is barely adequate in winter. We installed a "Real Flame" "Captiva" gas log fire which has a fan in it so it throws out a lot of hot air while looking good and there's no mess. Also has a wireless remote which is programmable to turn on in morning and evening and off in late evening. Very happy with installation and service and can highly recommend them. With the aircon set to fan only, it distributes warmth adequately throughout the house.

The cats and dog think it's their best friend.
