What does DPF stand for?

Im in office trying to complete end of month/quarter stuff and our system has died. 24/7 helpdesk not responding.

Is that the thing that you get a warning and youre suppose to drive for it to burn off? If you ignore it 3 times then it requires taking it in for service?

I wasnt paying attention when someone was telling me about this only a few days ago.

Each maker would be different, butnyes there'd be a warning. And it's an easy enough driving fix. Problem is the wife mostly drives the car and probably didn't notice. So by the time I see it it's too late.

"Someone" was my husband and his new Isuzu DMax and apparently it does some sort of regeneration thing every 500klms but I honestly stopped listening...

One option is that managers 'manage' leave. You don't approve prior leave that is inconsistent with the required shut-down at the end of the year.

Hell no. If I was told I could not take leave during the year (at times I want to travel) to ensure I had enough accrued to cover a forced shutdown then I would be finding a new job, with an employer who values AL for what it is intended I.e. a benefit for staff to ensure they are rested and refreshed in order to do their job efficiently and effectively.

Hear hear! If I was ever 'employed' and was told when to take my leave, you can be sure I'd tell them where to stick it and go work somewhere else!
A previous company I worked for would 'force' us to take 3 days off at Christmas. Not much you can do about that when jobs are scarce.

My mum can barely manage the simple mobile my brother has lent her - she knows to open the phone to answer and that's about it. As most of the family live interstate she really needs a phone plan with national calls included as she rings quite often and will talk for 30 mins and up each time.
I've just bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 and I will give my mum/brother my old Samsung Galaxy S5 so we can video call so mum can see daughter daily. She'll pick up how to use phone quickly. We don't need a phone plan for mum as I'll be doing the calling.

House phone should cover any other calls.

Diesel particulate filter. When the light flashes it is not good.
DPF accumulates soot.
Auto burnoff - occurs without warning light during normal driving but if you turn off engine while burnoff underway the engine fan stays on for a while = completely normal.

If insufficient burnoff DPF light comes on and this indicated to driver the car needs to be driven at high enough speed to push enough air past the DPF to facilitate burnoff - usually >80kmh. Some cars this is constantly on DPF light.

If DPF light flashing a dealer activated burnoff is required. Sometimes this is impossible and a new DPF is required. >$3000 in some cars.

Check your manual to confirm what it actually means for your vehicle.

Damn, the arm of my spectacles just broke. Am nearly ready to commence my shift with only one arm. At least they are staying on even if I look funny (than usual:p ).

Have a spare pair but they're for driving. I.e. I can see a long distance when I need close up vision.

Now will any shop be open tomorrow to get them repaired?

Oh it's Option C in this case I already know. I don't expect it to require a new filter though.

The Golden Rule .... Mayan Magic

Interesting but the Da Vinci and animal examples look a bit hokey. Crystallography and the evolution of spiral shells would be of interest to that lot.

When I went to Tikal, we had to use a local guide whose entire repertoire was so full of mysticism, energy lines etc, etc, that it nearly spoiled the tour. I ended up ignoring him and guiding myself out of a guide book.

Pretty sure I'm working all weekend, to catch up on the 3 days I had off.

Plus I have to remove all traces of christmas from the office... Are Easter eggs out yet?

No, but the buns are.

Coles, this morning:

Duct tape. Do not staple to head.

Good luck!
