I bought a dash cam for myself for Christmas and quite happy with it (unobtrusive, good footage, easy to use) so just bought one for hubby.

I also took a dash cam to KI for Christmas and think I'll take one to Scotland. Hopefully no crash cam needed, maybe for sheep on the road or views ect.

Love the date/timing on the recorded sim, the cheap ones would never hold the correct date/time so finding particular footage was hit and miss. This one is easy to locate a file.

Its a whole new world! UTAS has squeezed its library almost dry over the past 10 years. Of the 5 floors, only 1.5 now actually contains books and journals - the rest is turned over to study areas for fee paying students, and computers. Most of the stock is now held in storage, so has to be ordered the day before, at least (today's collection is my orders over the past week). There's an unrelenting effort to get you 'on line' and to 'use internet resources from your home'. But the best history stuff from the past 70 years is still in good old paper and ink, especially specialist texts. Although I've spent maybe $2K or more on my history library in the past year, I still need at least 4 volumes from the library most weeks.

That said, I am staggered by the amount of old, obscure material that has been digitised by Google, Gutenberg or one of the other digitisers and downloadable after an easy search. Come across a reference to a court case in 1802 that's relevant; go online, find it, download it, go through it, keep working ... :)

Books are such a desperately sad story ; #2 son's history teacher gave him his library when he retired.
It then resided on shelves and in boxes in my son's (now vacant) bedroom for many years.
Recently most of it went to the dump.
Modern education seems totally reliant on digital ; what happens when god (sub your deity) presses a button and silicon ceases to conduct ?
Seems to me that the best records available to visiting history researchers in 5017 will likely still be stuff like the Palermo Stone….

There’s that line “the secret lies with Charlotte” ... well, we’re certainly lying in Charlotte tonight courtesy of an enforced layover due to NYC weather.

Amazed at the number of people who do not understand the concept of multiple bus stops and waiting at the wrong stop.

I just got off the 590 bus at Brisbane DFO and walking towards the Airport TBus where a young lady is running/chasing after the bus that had just taken off. The bus driver didn't notice her or didn't care and she stumbled and fell near the bus stop and was crying for a few minutes.

I dont open them! But I do a email saying there is tupperware going into the bin and they are going to be in the bad books with their partner or mum if they dont claim it asap.

I just cant toss Tupperware, Im a Tupper'tart.
oh dear! You wouldn’t be happy with me :). As part of my new “cleaning out the house so the kids won’t have to do it”, I hiked out a huge number of Tupperware containers! Seriously some of them were antiques - I can remember buying them at Tupperware parties in 1980. I still have a lot of storage containers for the pantry, but have replaced all the others with a small number of Sistema containers from NZ, which are BPA and phthalate free, so more suitable for hot/warm things.

Is Haighs chocs any good? Got a big box of them sitting in the server room (constant cold) and havent taken them home yet.
Absolutely - we finally have a Haighs shop in Canberra - very happy (even though I rarely eat chocolate these days). My favourites are their orange pastilles and choc covered macadamia nuts.

Not about workers but about being sprung. Many years ago, a few students decided to wag the interschool swimming carnival and head into Melbourne city for a spot of shopping. Unfortunately they were spotted by the principal who was driving along Swanston St on the way to a meeting. You can be stiff. :p
Many years ago we detoured on the way to a swimming carnival via a butcher shop and a Girls' High school. A few tears were shed that morning.

The funny thing was during the swimming carnival that day the headmaster found out and called up some trusted seniors to do some investigative work to find out who was involved. Little did he know those seniors were also involved. Never did find out who was involved. ;)

I vaguely recall having a say on what we did that morning. :( Life has been paying me back since for all the stupid things we did as kids.

My 30 year old Tupperware strainer recently fell apart, and they sent me a replacement, no questions asked. Have plenty of vintage stuff and love it.

Left work at 2pm because I decided I deserved an early mark for showing up at work this week.... Good thing I don't work in John's office. Just woke up from a three hour nap!

And just remembered that my Haight chocs are still in the server room at work :(

Oi. There is no T in Haigh’s chocolates. :)

which did you get?

Today we were over at Oxford Street in London and I bought 2 smallish bags of fruit. The strawberries had the full taste and the cherries were to die for. These are the tastes we used to get decades ago.

.. and it's not even summer, when we get the good stuff! I had a wander into a supermarket in KL the other day and you could get a single Granny Smith apple for £1.

The street vendor had the good stuff Flashback. £9 for 2 smallish bags but the quality was amazing.
