I said superstitions can be real. Big difference.
Between superstitions and reality? Sure.

Don't dismiss what you don't know nor understand.

Oh, I dunno. I understand superstitions well enough; I just don't indulge. Although these, from my gggg-grandfather's place I'm researching, are part of a family of superstitious symbolism throughout Tasmania, and beyond that are not well understood. What do you reckon?

Is anyone else sick of hearing about the couple in the US who kept their kids prisoner? Yes it’s horrific. But every day now since it happened it’s been a full feature on the news. It’s no longer news. There is nothing we could have done to stop it. The couple are obviously wackos. So enough already. We’ve had pretty ordinary families here in Australia but thank goodness the reporting has been more moderate.

Not the opposite. I work hard. Some don't and it's as clear as the blazing sun in the sky on a hot summers day.

I'm sure there's others who see you on AFF or staring out the window and have the same perception, rightly or wrongly, of you.

There is nothing we could have done to stop it.

I guess the more it gets attention the greater the chance another similar event might be prevented in the future. The more we learn, the more we hear, perhaps we'll identify similar suspicious activity.

(I am assuming you are asking what the marks are, rather than if we believe in them - which I don't.)

Those marks are very similar to those I have seen on various UK programmes on very old buildings. They would appear to be "witches marks, apparently also called Apotropaic mark - Wikipedia . A couple of the marks on this site appear identical to yours. Witches' marks: public asked to seek ancient scratchings in buildings

Thanks for your very helpful input.

I've been to management. The person has been reported. He is adding no value to our team. I have been asked to provide input.

By the way my performance is not in question. You can see that easily from the work I do and the service I deliver to the business. The only time it comes into question is from my friends on AFF. Not good.

While I have my own opinions, they are not in play here. I have never been to your workplace so I cannot and will not make any judgement on your performance.

What I'm saying is that even though you may actually produce more than everyone else, if you don't have the "right" appearance people will always have the wrong opinion. I've been the target of it in the past, produced more than everyone else, but because I had a tendency to go have a chat to a mate once or twice a day, people thought I was bludging, even if I literally got through twice as much work as someone who stayed at his terminal all day.

I've been interesed in the story, one of the "kids" in the photo is mid 20s but looks like a child!

Crazy stuff. I wonder how they will be in 10 years time, with therapy will they be remotely "normal".

Going to Rod Laver arena tomorrow night. Men’s match features Federer and womens is Sharapova. Pretty happy with that.

Its an interesting subject; there is a guy doing a study of them in Tas now. Although I think he draws much too long a bow, I think there is definitely something 'up' with these symbols. Same with shoes left under the porch floor, or similar. They may not be too strong an indication of superstition, or desire to ward off witches. Might just have the same status as not walking under a ladder today - seen as a bit of fun, but avoided anyway.
