Speaking of salt.

My husband bought a novelty salt gun.... to kill flies, apparently.

Me: What flies?
Him: The occasional fly thats in the house.
Me: You are NOT using that in the house!
Him: Why?
Me: Because WHO is going to clean up all the random salt thats on the carpets? Im not having you shoot salt all over the place for me to clean up!
Him: *grumbles* Never thought of that *leaves room*

Glad to hear no deaths, hopefully the injuries are not severe.

Sydney train crash: passengers trapped and multiple injuries

MULTIPLE injuries have been reported following a train crash in Sydney’s north west on Monday morning.

There are reports up to 12 people have been injured when a train failed to stop at Richmond station and hit the buffers and then a wall. Three people were trapped but have now been freed by the emergency services.

Too much every night. Too much at lunch with their friends etc...

The ones that gets me the most are the school mums who go to pick up their precious bundles absolutely smashed.
In Adelaide it’s drugs.
There was an awful crash last year in the country of a Mum with her kids coming back from a beach holiday. One of her 8 year old twin boys was killed. Solo car smashed into tree. Of course great sympathy shown to Mum driver, and family who were badly injured. At the time it was said she had tried to avoid a kangaroo. (So we told our now future DIL who works as a medic in Victor Harbor and is a Brit to simply drive straight through one if it jumps on the road and not to swerve.). But mums blood tests came out a few days ago and she was high on amphetamines. Disgusting.

The problem is the penalties are too lenient when they are caught drink driving and sentenced.

One example was a 24 year old restaurant waitress was caught with blood alcohol reading of 0.09 and disqualified from driving for 6 months and fined $500. She'd already had a string of traffic offences.

Way too young and will more than likely continue to offend.

Slightly younger than our age group but I am fairly confident she will still be driving drunk at 50 if alive.

That's if she isn't in jail for killing someone in a car accident she caused while driving drunk.

It’s a revolving door down here. But I think our prisons are too full to deal with it. We have gangs with multiple offences. Sometimes they do something really horrific like stealing a car (that’s the usual) but then ploughing into another car and killing them. Then we hear of the litany of crimes. Like that horrendous accident - actually, let’s not call it an accident because if you are driving on methdone then something bad is going to happen, that occurred in New South Wales and killed four innocent people.

The penalty doesn't have to be serving time.
Anyone who drives whilst suspended should automatically lose the car they are driving.Period.If they borrowed it the person who lent it will get the message of how stupid they were.
The authorities can then auction off the car and come out ahead.

No need to put them in jail but give them 12 months and 2 year sentences and higher fines

- Take their licence off them which they do anyway
- Follow them randomly
- Follow their car's registration and possibly even cancel car registration

Go the Eagles.Only 3rd time in the Super Bowl.
Unfortunately their record is 0-2.

And its a cycle. The son is currently on bail for a long list of similar charges to the dead-beat dad, inc criminal robbery/assault.

The son was on bail and had to appear in court a few days after the father died in the car crash for dangerous driving ect.

The kid never had a chance, growing up in that environment, but at some point as an adult, you have to take responsibility and change yourself.

But their crime was stealing the car in the first place. They don’t own one. They are unlicensed. They dont borrow. They speed. And sometimes they kill. What penalty works there? When do we protect society?

If you steal a car you do time or get a supposed good behaviour bond.Having your licence suspended is generally for DUI,speeding etc.

Unpaid fines (inc parking and tolls) via State Debt Recovery (NSW) will also get your rego/license suspended.

YES! Did I mention it the other day, I bought a new pedestal fan and I had to put it together!!

I wonder what a poor older pensioner would do, faced with that.

Although I did get 6 points per dollar via Catch.

And not paying parking fines.

Friend was driving unlicensed, unregistered for a long time (think greater than 10 years) until they were caught and then paid very little and got it all back.

There's no consistency.

And what’s worse is that you had to unscrew several components which was not mentioned in the instructions at all. Needed a Phillips head screwdriver. And yes I had exactly the same thoughts as you with regards to the elderly. Especially the last part that required securing the two wire bases together whilst holding the securing rim and manipulating the screwdriver.

So this is what we have to do when we buy a fan these days.

I've had a couple of these types of fans over the years and can no longer be bothered with them. The last fan I purchased was a floor fan that is very solid and has a larger power range, i.e. the speed can be set very fast. I paid $45 and it has lasted longer than any pedestal fan I've ever had. Plus it's stable and easier to move about.

Best of all, it came fully put together and operated straight out of the box.
