Yes! I like skeleton bob; that sport is nuts.
When you think about it, most of the Winter Olympics sorts are thrill sports. Well, except curling. Athletes pushed right to the very edge. Noticed this last time in skating where to keep up athletes need to push harder and harder but the downside is that this means more misses and falls.

Speaking of the olympics and language, it is very annoying to hear the commentators speak about the 'girls' competing in the moguls. Whereas they always speak about the 'men' competing.

Yes. There is a long road ahead. At the same time in footy talk, I dislike the use of the word ‘boys’ because sometimes this is used to explain or dismiss the juvenile behaviour that some get up to. “Oh, they are just boys being boys”. Nope, they are men behaving like boys.

I made the mistake of referring to Erika as "The Wife" not long after we were married, she was in earshot and was not impressed and rightly told me so.

"SWMBO" isn't an issue for her and I also jokingly refer to her as the "Minister for Finance".

"His nibs", I haven't heard that for a long time, thanks for the link drron. "Her indoors", gees that's a long time ago as well, rattles brain to remember from what show it was.

Again this should probably be elsewhere, but does anyone else notice that on the Qantas safety video, "eXit" is pronounced "eGGsit", or is it just me? Annoys me everytime, but I'm just a grump, as my wife keeps telling me.

I actually remembered the source of this term and found a reference.

Popularized by Arthur Daley in British TV series 'Minder'.

I do like referring to to the wife as ex. (Haven't seen her for 10+ years but the term still brings me joy.)

That is such a bug bear of mine and that pronounciation is everywhere. Guess I’m a grump too :D

On a completely different topic. We have a second dead elephant stuck in our wall cavity. Well, it really smells that bad. Our second in 6 months. Last time we weathered through the smell by closing the door but this time the stink is horrendous, I guess because of the hot weather. Got to googling again last night and Nil Odour kept getting rave reviews esp for dead things stuck in wall cavities. Off to Coles. Found it at the very bottom shelf for around $8. A tiny bottle. Yeah. Sure.

Online and the instructions the emphasis was on not using too much. Too much = more than 2 drops. Tell em ya dreamin.

Well me being me I thought it ridiculous that one drop would kill this stink so I might have used one drop but in multiple places where the smell was permeating. Thankfully no carpet in these areas. After a couple of hours last night - maybe it was lifting? Or imagination.

Got up this morning and the smell was gone. Seriously. Absolutely amazing. The way this product works is that it changes the structure of the smell thingy so that your olfactory sensors cannot pick it up. The ‘smell’ is still there, you just can’t smell it.
It can be used in washing and also in animal smell areas and humans that smell like that too  I wonder if our cat can still smell it?

Sorry, you misunderstand, I don't have a problem with either wife or partner, it's the reference to "The Wife" that I find impolite and be honest, offensive.

To me "The Wife" is very impersonal, almost object like.
Yes “The Wife” describes the partner as chattel and implies the old fashioned view of wifes as “property” like The Car, The House...

Just how big are your walls?!:p
Who knows the secrets held inside the hidden walls of a cavity.
We think it’s a possum. Or mega rat. But as I’ve posted on this thread previously, I really really really hate possums.

I seem to recall “Her indoors” on Coronation street. And again on a range of other older UK TV shows.

Edit: As HVR mentions above Arthur Daly made it much more widely known.

Hate them enough to lure them into your wall cavities? ;)
Hell no. I want them out. We have one that bangs around near our chimney around 8pm at night. I’ve found that playing YouTube vids of Magpies warbling sends them packing. We see them walking across our power lines. High voltage. One even blew up a transformer in our street. Our power and the next doors power went out one night. Just the two of us. Next day the crew in their cherry picker were at the stobie pole. I went to have a chat and as I was standing there this dried up thinggy dropped down almost on my head. A possum had fritzed itself on the high voltage wires. Poor sucker. Not.

My wife and my daughter are out shopping. I'm sitting in the shade waiting to tee off.

Everyone is happy....

Simple pleasures. MrP is at the gym. I’m here in the nice cool change weather at home, playing on my iPad and watching @Danger do his head in on the giveaway thread. Cat is enjoying fresh air and sleeping on our bed. AND THAT PUTRID SMELL HAS GONE. For now. Everyone is happy.

Hubby came home from an early morning dive and I made him a bacon and egg roll.

We had watermelon for dinner last night so he was really hanging out for salt and grease, after hiking up and down Bare Island in gear a couple of times.

Finally got a big plastic tub to put all the Christmas decorations Ive collected on our travels so now wandering the house hidey holes for them.

We dont use a tree these days but one day, when were more home bound, we might so I keep buying them.

I always try to find a decoration to bring back.

Watching some Winter Olympics today and I wonder what people find enthralling in watching riders on a single plank slide down a hill with occasional jumps? Where’s the Curling I ask?

SWMBO does that as well and we haven't even been to the Christmas markets in Europe. We were hoping this year, but will probably have to delay that.
