I'm on the watch out for infection but I think this is more of the "someone stood on your face and ripped a tooth out from your gum" kind of feeling. That feeling that makes you want to keep clamping on it. I might have to resort to the codeine after all!
As long as it wont make you do anything stupid or risk your life, take the drugs. Even half a tablet is better than none, take the edge off.

Yep and this is surprisingly effective and almost calming?. Couldn't start until 24 hours after (last night) and have done it four times since then. I have stitches and originally they would stick into my cheek but they've settled now.

And an ice cube in a face washer applied to your cheek helps too ! I had a back molar taken out late last year - I had exactly the same feeling as you - " but I think this is more of the "someone stood on your face and ripped a tooth out from your gum" kind of feeling."

Well, I dont 'like' this but it reassuring to know that its normal.

Gum tree fell on my future DIL car in her work car park on her second day at that place. Next door neighbours tree. He paid around $6000 in repairs. He'd been warned.

Sadly one of my son's teachers was killed when as a passenger a tree bough fell on their car. And a young kid driving home from work a couple of years ago died just up the road from me (and Buzz) when gum tree fell on her car. Council had been warned.

My tooth (or space) is aching. More than it did the day after it was done. Why is it so?

1)A neighbour is not automatically liable for tree damage. Giving a warning is not necessarily going to help either.

I had a difficult neighbour who wanted an overhanging tree removed. He warned me. So I went to council. They said get an arborist. This person said no reason to cut it down, so council would not give permission to cut it down. Sent neighbour the report. My lawyer said if a branch did fall down, I had taken reasonable steps so no liability.

2)Post extraction pain: look up “dry socket”

1) We have similar issues at home but its the neighbours tree. Neighbour refuses to remove it. Hangs 2/3 over our fence. Said it was significant. He got in Arborist. Who told neighbour it isnt significant and should be removed as it is a risk of falling branches. He got arborist in to trim it but that isnt enough. He has most definitely been warned. The DIL had Insurance so she let them deal with it all.

2. Will do! Now that is interesting given I have a blood clotting issue. I am on X but did not take dose for 48 hours prior and it should have been out of the system. Just hope I dont throw a clot elsewhere . But Im back on it now. Oral surgeon aware of all this.

I have 2 teeth that were extracted and a 3rd tooth that wasn't extracted but there's not much left. The spaces where the teeth were are still sensitive years later and do hurt from time to time.

The problem now is the teeth around the empty spaces have started to become very sore. Not sure if filling is going to be enough.

The destist I go to here wants minimum $100 after Medibank Private rebate for the simple fillings. Found a dentist in Pattaya that looks ok. Amalgam fillings from ~$35-$50 per tooth. A little bit more expensive for the non-amalgam fillings. Getting free clean here this week and find out which teeth need fillings and try to do them in Thailand end of this month.

Amalgam - thats the mercury stuff or metallic? I'd pay a bit more and get non amalgam. I hate mine. If I was brave I'd get them all redone.

Yes easiest is to claim off insurer who may or may not subrogate it. Sometimes it’s easier for the insurer to not subrogate it and then put up next years premium and ping you on the NCB especially if it’s under a certain amount.

There is only so much pruning that can be done - I think about 10% otherwise it needs council approval. Over pruning can destabilise the tree and cause more problems later on.
If council says no then really nothing the neighbour can do except wash their hands

Amalgam is superior.

Many Cochrane reviews on amalgam and insufficient evidence to support supposed adverse effects of amalgam.

See “New England Children’s Amalgam Trial “

However the Minamata Consensus on Mercury is seeing the global and gradual phasing out of use of mercury anyway.

Doesn't amalgam last longer?
Yes certainly does and also has antibacterial effects and no demonstrable effect on the owner

However nowadays many dentists use composite resins which are slowly getting better. The problem is not the amalgam once it’s applied but the use and handling of mercury to make the amalgam.

They just look ugly. Dad used to work in a dental supply company. I used to play with the mercury!

Not me.

I stupidly took my passport to golf in Thailand as I didn't trust the in room safe and had the passport in my back pocket while playing golf. The rest is history.

Live and learn. I now carry a laminated copy of my passport page in my wallet and wife carries passport.

I find wife's handbag a very useful item.:D
