In Dunedin, the free spring water at Speights is a tap just outside the distillery.

Drive up with your drums and bottles, fill and go.

On the whole plastic debate, London is trying a few things... how well it'll work I don't know, as I can't think of many people that would be carrying around their own water bottle to make use of the service. Also, those that would be carrying the water bottle I dare say would not be the demographic of people that would be buying bottled water anyway......

Free tap water with Refill London
SAN Francisco I think is doing the same. They should also get rid of the disposable coffee cups with the plastic lids.

We have a similar spring in Adelaide. Just outside the brewery.

You mean like the Preference Whisperer? Makes money out of setting up dodgy preference deals.

Gives more power to the voter.

Labor blaming Liberals for not fielding a candidate for Batman thus giving the Greens an indirect leg up. Yes it’s always someone else’s fault. Yes if Libs contested they would preference Labor which would then tilt the seat towards Labor which is what Labor wants

Why would the Libs spend $$$$ on an electorate they would not win and give a leg up via preferences to Labor or Greens

No that's not what I meant. If a party decides not to run a candidate in an unwindable seat, that's their choice. What I don't like are the 'whisperers' who work with the rank outsiders to stitch up preference deals that end up with them being elected on a handful of 1st preference votes.

The second paragraph was a example of how political parties use the preference system.
Whisperers would be irrelevant if electors vote again

I saw an ad about them in the paper today. I've read a paper paper a couple of times this week. Very rarely do that anymore. It was quite a novelty. I've already got plenty of re-usable bags. I just have to remember to use them. How much are they selling the bags for?

Correct.

So if retailers started selling fresh meat + packaging you'll just accept it?

1 kg rump steak $19.99
+ plastic tray $0.25

Or milk

2L full cream milk $2.99
+ plastic bottle $0.30

Charging for plastic bags is a stupid idea. You still pay the same for shopping but pay extra for bags.

Except that you’re already paying for the plastic bottle on the milk. The milk producer factors that cost into the list price of the products that they sell them to retailers for. Similarly, the supermarket factors the price of packaging into the per kg rate for the meat - and the labour costs of the butcher etc

Putting a price on the bags at checkout can be about a deterrence factor - so people think twice about using them or spread a few items across a lot of bags. It’s aout changing shopper behaviour for the good of the environment.

We moved a year ago and my credit card statement still goes to the old address. Updated details with bank, rang them three or four times. In their system only our new address is visible yet it continues to go to the old address.

My bank has suddenly decided to start using my old surname on transfers etc - 11 years after it changed - causing a lot of confusion for people I’ve transferred money to.

Yes but when they go to component pricing the price of the milk stays the same but now start charging for the packaging.

Am I the only one that sees through their tricks? Qantas is very good in this area.

Wow, that was on the quite - was there any media about this prior?

and having sexual intercourse without consent.

Why the watered down legal jargon. Rape. Sexual intercourse without consent is rape.

Pet peeve, "Molesting" a child or minor is another word for rape.

It’s not watered down legal jargon - it’s the journalist reporting as they should i.e. using the language and terms that appear in Division 10 of the Crimes Act (NSW).

I am beginning to wonder if you’re being deliberately obtuse.

How can a retailer charge for the plastic milk bottle - the packaging has nothing to do with them. They buy it packaged and the cost of the packaging sits with the supplier.

You’re also ignoring the laws on component pricing and having to display a single price.

I think you’re trying to find deception and misdeeds where none exist.

It’s annoying to have so many probably unnecessary pre votes. They don’t get counted Saturday night.

I’ll just leave this here. I did ask a question. Maybe around 29 minute mark ;)
CATCH UP: South Australia Sky News/Advertiser People's Forum | Sky News Australia

Watch the squirm courtesy of my new friend Mr Speers. And why people really warmed to MrX and why it’s a tough choice. Especially for rusted ons.

It is a really tough choice but I think it's time for a change from Labour but to what is the hard question.

And I didn't hear you say anything about being a cafe owner ;)

Yeah. Have no idea where that came from.

Im thinking if MrX doesn’t get up in Hartley and that’s not looking good right now then I think his party will get a couple of Upper House seats. And maybe one of those might move over for him. But that’s exactly where he started from. We do need a voice like him in Parliament. I’m also concerned that Kelly Vincent from the Dignity Party might fail. I’m going to number from 1-12 at least.

I received an email just now from David Speers as well. Sky News certainly respond well to queries.

I've been following the experts, Qantas, for so long. Can't get more deceptive than fuel surcharges added when fuel was high and increased when fuel got higher but then not reduced or totally removed when fuel was cheaper.

Charging a customer for plastic bags is such a stupid idea it is beyond belief. It has nothing to do with reducing the number of plastic bags in circulation. Woolworths could have gone with totally biodegradeable and included in your shopping bill. Instead they chose to sugar coat their blatant cash grab with caring about the environment. I remember something similar with Target a few years back but they did a backflip as it hurt business?
