I've been organising my workspace at home in preparation for my first practicum, and I needed something to put my laptop on to raise it up to eye levelish height (I have an old iMac keyboard and mouse to use with it).

IKEA is awesome. This Rationale Variera shelf

IKEA | Built-in kitchens | FAKTUM/RATIONELL system | RATIONELL VARIERA | Shelf insert

is $7.99 yet puts your 13inch notebook of choice (MacBook Pro in this case) at the perfect height for your eyes. I got enough room underneath to stack about 6 removable HDD too.

And the surface the notebook sits on is perforated so air flow for cooling too!

Beats the cough out of the $50-$120 thingies I saw at hardly normal and other shops.

As someone else noted (forget who), not many people fly on the long weekend, at least not in the middle of it. Both flights I ended up being seq nbr 10.
What long weekend.None here in Tassie and I fully agree with it being that way.
First frost of the season, though 3 weeks ago did snow at Cradle Mountain.

I have an iCurve, but bought it a long long time ago, probably before Ikea was making such things. Worked very well with a number of different laptops over the years.

Well it’s a public holiday here today, so if you were going to take your family somewhere you wouldn’t fly back yesterday.

So much for the agreement to harmonise the way states treat Anzac Day. I assume your not getting a substitute in Tasmania next year either?

I like the fact that this is a piece of kitchen shelving I'm using...

I now completely comprehend why you check and recheck the online checkin tool till you find the best seat. For this mornings flight I've successfully moved myself up from a pre-allocated 30F yesterday to 23D in the mini-cabin this morning.
Very very very important.

I pre-allocated 24D (bulkhead on 767-338) for yesterday morning's flight and was happy with selection until I boarded the aircraft and noticed it had been substituted to a 767-336.

I have pre-allocated 25D (bulkhead on 767-338 with front galley) and hope that aircraft does not get substituted again at last minute.

Only a naturalised Tasmanian;).Painted on the scar to pass the medical:shock::p:lol:.
The government have stated Anzac Day should be Anzac day on April 25 and i heartily agree.

I guess the substitute would have to be the Wednesday? I think Easter Tuesday is a holiday in Tasmania anyway (or at the very least a bank holiday).

Completely agree, the idea of ANZAC day itself it to remember our fallen diggers who served our country in war. Why should everyone get the next day off

Try coming down this end of the state, our heaters were on all night and still the house was an ice-block this morning, and that was before we discovered that the sewer pipe running under the front lawn had burst.

Effect is the same. IIRC in WA they are calling Tuesday April 26 a 'special public holiday' next year. Saves the debate on whether they are moving Easter Monday or Anzac Day :)

Rule of thumb ... if expecting to be on a 763, avoid pre-selecting a row 25 seat.

With the most recent invocation of domestic seat selection for QF flights; E/F now provides seat maps. (I pulled one up 30 minutes before my flight this evening and I could not perceive any change in PAX seating from that map)

So you’re saying it’s a good job we can’t smell you through the internet? ;)

Probably, I wouldn't recommend it, shows that the 3 new water companies in Tasmania work so well:rolleyes:

How's this for funny. Was supposed to meet trippin_the_rift in AKL QP. Never ended up happening as we were later than planned.

Anyway.... walking off the aircraft as we got to SYD, I was talking to Skoogle on the phone and mentioned how I was supposed to meet him and didn't. Anyway.. the chap in front of us turns around, and says "did I hear my name?". Sure enough, it was him!

He's just left the J Lounge to fly to BNE, I have another 2 hours till I fly out.

I wondered how you were in the J lounge.

Small world it is.

I heard that JSwong was in Sydney; but he left before I made to the Sydney as he was flying onto Auckland where he met up with serfty who some of us had lunch with on Sunday. Lucky9876coins was on the same flight as JSwong on the IAD-LAX flight, Lucky is the author of boarding area as OneMileAtATime. Lucky was flying to LAX for the StarMegaDo2 launch party which was held on Friday night in LA.

StarMegaDo2 details here.

Confused; not me; try and keep up. ;)
