No
Depends from whose point of view you look at the situation.

This young lady still went ahead and touched off even though I was right there and she probably doesn't care if she's caught as the fines are not that high anyway.

No it doesn’t

It's theft if you use a service (in this case, transport) and don't pay for it.

Looks awfully uncomfortable. Although it looks like quite a good contraceptive/passion killer!

I think the issue is if you had sleep apnoea it could just be the end of you.

I was surprised that every specialist and police officer who attended me in emergency asked if I had been wearing a seatbelt. .

Yes a very important question because it informs the first responders and medical people of the possible injuries and severity - either caused by seat belt or by not wearing seatbelt.

No way - I just bought a whole heap of plants I want to put in this weekend. Loving the rain (better get used to it - back in NZ next week and it will be wet and windy there)

There was some guy in the UK who was travelling into London every day on the train and instead of paying the full fare he just swiped his oyster card as he left the station each day in London. Because he hadn't swiped on it was automatically charged at the maximum for the day - about 7 pounds or so. They finally caught up with him and worked out he had evaded over could have run into the hundreds of thousands of pounds

It's still possible to do similar in Brisbane. Used to be the case in Sydney as well but they may have closed the loophole.

We got some rain in downtown Barton! A couple of good lightning bolts as well. Seems to have passed over now though.

Didn't last long out this way, sort of rained, but not very much.

Hopefully tomorrow we'll get something decent.

And Aussie school teachers get 3 months plus PH’s
I should have listened to Mum and gone to teachers college. :)
you know I used to think teachers had a pretty cushy life, but since Ms FM started teaching I have realised they actually work very hard! She is teaching year 11 and 12 and she puts in very long days, brings assignments home to mark at weekends. She does cocurricular on a Sunday, so works 51/2 days a week and one week of each holiday period is spent preparing for the term and in fact the last week of the summer holidays is actually at school.

The holidays are good, but after 10 weeks of face to face with kids they need it. Maybe in the “old” days, where teachers dealt with the subject matter, but these days you are almost a social worker dealing with a lot of other issues. That’s before you have to deal with parents who somehow feel they can do nothing with their kids but it’s the teachers fault if they don’t get the grades.

While the salary isn’t bad, it’s certainly at the lower end for the qualifications. In Ms FM’s case a science degree from ANU with excellent grades (distinctions and higher) plus a Masters in Teaching. In fact she was asked at her interview why she was becoming a teacher with the year 12 results she had and her Uni results, which is a bit sad. At the moment she teaches because she loves it, not because it is a cushy job with lots of holidays :)
