Sexist much?

I’ve lost count of the number of aging, sexist and downright unattractive men I’ve encountered who can only find a partner by resorting to mail order brides. Then whining about the nagging. Give me strength. They should be grateful they actually found someone to put up with their awful behaviour. Most of these men are mean spirited and their poor families suffer as a result

I had gout once ... most pain in and around the joints of the ball and toes of my right foot.

It took me 5 minutes to hobble 150 metres.

Build up of Uric acid the doctor said ... some pills for a short time and advice to skip my morning TJ.

The crippling pain gradually subsided over a few days. I NEVER want to experience it again.

Allopurinol.

But much better to get diagnosis first.
You many not have gout. Encourage a visit to GP.
That drug is related to renal disease? My main (I was going to say only) problem is time to check everything and do I really want to know. Dad takes something like 18 different tablets and I don't want to be the same.

Uric acid though rings a bell. Or is that Urea. The level in my blood has been on the high side for a long time. I'll chat with GP tomorrow or it may require another visit.

People with that very ambiguous thing called 'gout' might consider hemochromatosis as a contributing factor, as it is for me. A diagnosis of hemochromatosis might then lead to picking up of some other issues. H. is very easily controlled by that wonderful thing of donating blood. No pills, just a nice cup of tea and a biscuit every month or three.

Aren’t relationships about caring for each other and wanting to do things for each other? If Mr FM forgets to do things I will remind him, which he appreciates as he is away with the fairies half the time and doesn’t have anything much in hs head these days apart from his models and photographs!

I enjoy making him all the treats he likes - fruit buns, scrolls, muffins, none of which I eat.

Two way street really....

Agreed. I am more skilled at certain things like General Management in the Home and our Business’s which include all financial matters, so I’m happy to use my strengths. I’m completely lost in a supermarket and would eat a vegemite sandwich every night if I had to come home and prepare a nightly meal. Mr ALH does all of the shopping and cooking, even bringing me breakfast in bed every morning. We stick to the things we are good at, but I do have to “remind” him of things several times when he forgets. Hardly nagging!

Here in lies the problem, what the other sex considers reminding, us mere mortals consider nagging :D

Ha! I didn't miss Golden Week! Fortunately only a day, so not too much damage done.
We didnt miss it, didnt ruin anything but it was busy for a couple of days.

Also went to Cambodia during their new year

I now check international holiday calendars before picking a place and date.

You are right. Of course they are a two way street.

- I do all the shopping
- I can cook and do cook every now and then to give wife a break
- I bring cooked food home for wife and daughter to give a wife a break
- Garbage is easy as we take out the garbage once or twice a day when the small plastic bag next to sink is full
- I take out the recycling
- I don't leave clothes on floor
- wife won't let me do the washing or ironing
- wife keeps the apartment tidy
- wife takes care of daughter
- I wish I was a better father
- I snore a lot
- I go to work
- I forget lots of things and she reminds me every morning on the way to work

My comments were not a complaint. My wife has the most difficult job of the two. That I have no doubt. I'm not perfect.
have no problems with any of that - it sounds a sharing relationship

Is that when your iron levels are through the roof? Hubby had similar but his chiro worked with him on some adjustments and blood tests went back to normal soon after. Our chiro was a medical doctor in a previous life so he suspected it (after talking to hubby about some issues) and sent hubby off for tests first to confirm.

Actually not in my experience.
I’ve missed flights because of road congestion but I’ve never (touch wood) missed flights because of public transport bus/train

Car/Uber/taxi more convenient not more reliable

The specific reference is to the GC. I would never rely on private transport in Sydney/ Hong Kong/ Singapore /London et al if my time lines were tight. I make the point that I don’t care for public transport at the best of times, struggling with small humans, more that one or two bags and climbing on and off busses and light rail is for the less savvy and more tight fisted among us.
If I’m even remotely concerned about arriving on time, I’m certainly do not rely on chance to get me there. My caveat on all of this is that I travel in comfort, because that is my choice, I have (airline) status which avails me access to a comfortable and less stressful environment in which to wait for my flights. If I arrive too early then I suck it up and enjoy an extra glass of Pinot Noir . ;-)

Champagne definitely causes me knee pain, which I assume is gout. Don’t drink very much, but I do hit the bubbly when travelling. I pay for it by the time I get home, but my knees recover after I dry out and it’s absolutely worth it :).

Oh dear. I can’t Imagine being allergic to champagne. ........

I should leave this to the medicos, but hemochromatosis is a genetic condition where (put simply :)) you lack an enzyme which stops digested iron being transferred into the bloodstream when there is enough already absorbed. Therefore the blood becomes saturated, and ultimately overloaded with iron. Then, the body seeks to store the excess iron elsewhere, such as in the liver and pancreas where it can then cause cirrhosis. There can be other effects, such as arthritic conditions in fingers and toes caused by the deposition of calcium salts there. This is where the 'gout' comes in. Not gout sensu stricto as explained by Quickstatus, but the 'old guy's sore big toe' type.

Not sure what the chiro did, but hemochromatosis is usually treated by blood vinesections (donations), where after blood is removed, new blood is created, using up some of the excess iron. I've been happily donating blood for abt 25 years, ever since I was diagnosed. Oh, the other thing they did at first was to stick a thick needle into my side, into my liver, to take a 'core sample' (sort of like what they do to cheeses :)). They looked at this and found I had no cirrhosis, which was a nice thing to find out after a young bloke's beer drinking habits .

Edit: I should add that a whole lot more has been found out about this condition in the last 20 years, after I found out about it and had it explained to me, so YMMV.

The relationship is ok. I'm not perfect and make heaps of mistakes but I'm trying my best.

What's funny is the people who think they know you.

We only know you by what you write in this forum. Such as your recent comments about women being constant naggers.
