Denali - we haven't been to Christmas Hills for a while- but when we were fairly regularly there their stuff was great ! From the new menu they have expanded their desserts

Sexist much?
Surely some of the women if not men on this forum should suggest to admin that such posts by the OP are simply not acceptable and close to breaching the sex discrimination act and should simply be removed?

My only niece is moving to Darwin. Happy for her to experience more and work opportunities but worried she's unprepared for Darwin locals.

Beer o’clock will get her into the swing of Darwin followed by the local newspaper with crocodile news. I am not sure if Road Kill Cafe is still down at the beach ,
but if not there would be an equivalent. Darwin is quite different.

Several made comments and as far as I can see the person in question has removed/edited some posts. There were one or two pretty nasty comments posted back though and I hope they are amended as well.
I’m over the debate altogether and just want to read about RF trying to keep northerners out of Tassie so he can have all the good food himself. :p

Pies. Tassie pies are awesome.

I give up :(. For those who like it served up in concentration, I recommend Taste of the Huon, in March every year. Then of course there is the Taste of Tasmania in Hobart between Christmas and New Year and Dark mof_ Winter Feast next month, not forgetting Festavale in Launceston.

I've organised a trip to Japan with a friend in a couple of weeks. She is somewhat elderly (well I suppose am I too), takes quite a while to get organised each day and doesn't eat beef, raw fish or oysters or drink more than one glass of wine. What was I thinking?

So you've had to accept that the island state is being over run by those is search of wonderful food. I feel your pain (LOL). Must plan another trip soon! Though I don't usually like to go places when they have festivals on, too many people to jostle with!:p

You need better friends :D

It was day 4 in Japan that I said I cant do anymore rice and I dont eat most sushi/raw foods. I didnt think I was a fussy eater until I went to Japan and China. I dont run but I did practically sprint to a KFC at Nara once.

I'm reminded of the Aussie cricketers and "the line". Someone appears to delight in trying to make others step over it.

I believe it makes this entire place a less pleasant and useful place to be.

Fair enough, but the Taste of the Huon is a particularly good event. (Thinks: Damn .. now they'll over-run that too!)

Went to the bowels of the internet last night and I think I need this cheese grater in my life. And the one that you melt cheese and slide it onto your dinner (raclette?).

What's with the "need" to avoid Japan during Golden Week, by the way? I can think of few better times to be in Tokyo...

Don't think people have said you have to 'avoid' GW. Think it's mostly to do with how busy it is and as a result how it can be hard to get into places or book transport. Lots of people love the excitement and vibe though.
