I've organised a trip to Japan with a friend in a couple of weeks. She is somewhat elderly (well I suppose am I too), takes quite a while to get organised each day and doesn't eat beef, raw fish or oysters or drink more than one glass of wine. What was I thinking?

That’ll learn ya (LOL)

Its corp policy that the company will not be responsible for cancelled flights, lost deposits ect if bookings made prior to leave approval have to be cancelled.

Which is why I get narky at managers that dont approve leave for weeks, months. THEY think its so far in advance, dont worry about it but I remind them they cause unnecessary anxiety to people that are planners.
Dr FM has to wait until rosters come out before she knows whether she can get leave or not. Generally she only gets 3 to 4 weeks notice - makes planning difficult and fares expensive :(

Sitting at the chiro the guy next to the me drives an Audi R8 but looks like he can afford a barina.

Turns out he's the guy who I've seen before that writes car reviews. I saw him a couple of years ago in a jaguar suv before it was released at my local Coles

I'm too old to let someone decide when I can go on leave. I book my holidays and then ask for leave approval. Work can work around my leave and they do.

Win, win for all involved. It may also be time to increase leave to 12 weeks/year.

So be definition your leave application sits first in queue?
No. Anyone can apply for leave years in advance if they want but for example, if the dates happen during Easter, their application will be 100% annual leave until public holidays are created in the system. As dates change every year, they need to be updated each year.

Once public holidays created, system will take that 10 day leave application and change to 8 annual leave plus 2 public holidays.

You're tough. I have a badly broken tooth that needs to come out but I don't want to go as I don't want the local anasthetic. The funny thing is this tooth had root canal ~20 years but now hurts. Awful work.
The local is usually painless - at least where my dentist is concerned

It’s when it wears off the trouble starts. :( Not actually the tooth itself but in the tissues around. I’m a bit sore round the nose and under the eye, though it will settle soon I’m sure.
My dentist is very keen on pain minimisation which is just how I like it.

It's not the pain of the injection that worries. It's reaction of the adrenalin with my body making me agitated and causing severe panic/anxiety attacks.

Apparently I was agitated even more when the dental surgeon gave me a double dose of local while I was under general anesthetic. The procedure was around 9:00am and I was still numb at 9:00pm and suffering from panic attacks.

Why don't doctors listen to the patient?

More to the point, people were going online and for, say $25, were getting "service animal" kits for their dogs etc. and taking the pets on board to avoid the fees when taken as cargo.

I have a few relatives living in
the USA. There are a lot of people admittIng to getting GP letters to take pets on flights as Service Animals instead of paying for transportation of said animals

In some cases such as are often quoted here, in that case they would never let you leave the surgery and you’d end up in hospital or in the mental ward.:)

That's sad. Last minute airfares can be very expensive as I've been finding out a lot the past couple of years.
