I'm currently sitting in the Whereishome F Lounge where the steak is cooked to order, the whiskey is single malt and top shelf and pants are optional.

And no children running around.

It's VERRRRRY exclusive.

I'm sitting in another HIX bar enjoying my complimentary pint. This hotel is a weird one - it's mainly focussed at tour groups I think, and is slightly out of town. Being a Plat really helped with recognition here ... so much so, they gave me an exclusive room on Floor 0 (ground), and my view from the window is of the entrance of the hotel (it backs onto the walkway into the hotel).

;)

Yeah view isn't much to speak of. We didn't get a ground floor room however; the hotel looks like a rabbit warren at times.

Didn't go to the bar and we didn't have any status to speak of, which didn't matter because we got free drinks on the ghost tour we went for.

Not really too far out of town - a brisk walk up the hill to the bridge between old and new town - but I concur that it could be enough to be "annoying"; reminds me of Hilton on the Park in MEL and its distance from the MEL CBD (thank goodness that Hilton MEL South Wharf is a more palatable position and distance). In saying that, we finished our tour of Edinburgh so late that we had to run from Edinburgh Waverly station through hordes of people and road works, back to the HIX, get our bags and run again back to Edinburgh Waverly to get the bus to the airport. Tiring is an insufficient description for that exercise (no pun intended)...

And what a fun run that was! What would a Eurotrip be without a few "almost missed" transport connections ;)

We had so many free drinks after the ghost tour, that we ended up giving some of them away! It was as if everyone thought we were alcos and gave us their vouchers..

Yeah, but I bet you they force you to wear pants.

Great to hear. I'd have dropped out as you know, but an afternoon trip to see clients at South Tweed Heads beckoned and I didn't get home until 8.15pm, so we would have missed anyway.

I'm currently sitting in the BNE J lounge wait for my flight to Adelaide. Fortunately I have managed to swap to an earlier flight so I don't have a 5.75 hr wait in BNE. :D

Karens I am also in NY & enjoying the great weather, not too hot & great to walk around

HIX Edinburgh was fine. This is a different HIX in Scotland.

Yeah, but I bet you they force you to wear pants.

Haha, seeing "pants" in the UK has the definition of "underpants", that could well be a good thing!

With jam, clotted cream and a pot of tea, I presume? :p

Actually no. Not afternoon yet. In a patisserie so it's a fruit scone with jam and butter, and a coffee to keep me awake.

The economy seats in the A380 are surprisingly comfortable. Lots of legroom in 71D too :D

Got my airNZ airpoints card today, very impressive.

One of the thickest welcome booklets I've seen in a long time:lol:

I hate Thai internet keyboards.

I will post in the relevant thread later but it is possible to meet airside at Suvarnabhumi airport as long as you do not go back through security for your gate. Landed at the same time as docjames (and lovely wife) on Sunday and I waited around at their departure gate but they must have gone back upstairs.

I made it out to the Talisker distillery today. Not too bad a tour, but it really is a very small distillery (and they bottle off-site etc etc).

Now in Glasgow. I really am trying to cram too much into my quick Scotland trip!

No you're not. It's called keeping busy; not a bad way to travel - keeps you (mostly) alert and awake, and doing something rather than letting time pass by. :)

I think that's a fine way to travel.
