Wheeee OLCI for seat 1F HBA to MEL tomorrow on a cheap JQ ticket - it will also be first QP experience for me :)

Sitting in the HBA lounge - this place is quite small.. very glad it's not full

WIll be here 20 more minutes if anyone is around - dark brown shirt and tan pants!

Was out at a meeting last night for an organisation that I'm a part of, and you'd never guess who is now a member of our chapter. Remember the fellow in Perth that bought the ex-QF J seats and had a dinner, and it was posted up on the web with photos etc?

Isn't Perth a small place.

I'm flying QF15/16 BNE-LAX -BNE in August, and my T/A has seated me in 3A over and 3K home, so I presume it is a 2 class flight. My question is,does anyone know if these are good seats, and are they lie-flat? With low numbers, row 3 must be in the pointy part (old Fclass)of the B744.
Only other seats were upstairs at the rear, to close to the meals and toilet area, been there done that!

Cheers Dee

Quite often the BNE-LAX flights are J/whY seating only ; not sure if they've been reconfigured?

You may have First class seating (with J service).

Can you dig up your booking on www.qantas.com/yourbooking ?

Are there 3B or 3J seats in the cabin?

Thanks serfty, checked the QF site, seating is one to four rows, AB - JK, with EF in row 4. so presume it is all J seating, it does look to have more space than row 5 back, but could be just the diagram.

Cheers Dee

Anything in J; is going to be better than 67G at the back of the plane.

So last night I didn't get to bed until 10:35pm but I still woke up at 4:30am, jetlag is still there but its slowly going away.

I only arrived home from my last trip and already planning my next one.

Spoken like a true addict! :p
That's what I was thinking, then I realised I am in the process of planning my next 10 through to March next year, 11 if one counts our conceptual attendance at the "Prague Do" next June.

I heard your trip planning got a little more difficult with flights less than 8 hours especially when SWMBO is joining you. :-|

I am organising one, New Zealand, and dreaming about November, I got the quote but I can't afford it just at the minute. :(

Maybe if I hadn't brought a house I could spend more money on flying. The economics of owning your own house are not good, anything good usually costs money, there was an article in the Monday Courier Mail about getting married that can get you into debt as well. :!:

Resolved.:D (Thanks to a Patient FTer taking some time to have a good therapeutic discussion in Adelaide - Cheers José :D)

You could bite the bullet and blow points for it (I've seen your balance - don't tell me you don't have enough ;)), otherwise just travel all the way in non-upgradeable Y (and perhaps hope for op-ups).

Not necessarily true if you can stand waiting for at least 5-7 yrs according to this:
Home Loan Calculator Comparison Tools - Rent vs Buy - Your Mortgage

The OH showed it to me the other day. I've yet to get my head around their methodology though, as math ain't my strong suit. But it does tend to be fairly spot on, barring some catasthropic drop in Australian house prices which seems unlikely in the current climate.

I wish I hadn't bought off-the-plan as I'm not good with waiting. Signed the contract in June 2009, completion August 2011 - just want to move into the place already! :p When we gun for house number 2 it'll be an established property!

You mean you wasted the trip back? :p Currently have two in mind, one to BNE later this year ;) and another Circle Asia next year which will include the SIN DO.

Fingers crossed I will have a heap of work travel in Oct/Nov. Am only 600 SCs from Platinum and this may just get it for me. If not it should only be one decent status run away. Here's hoping.

Is it just me, or is there no real advantage to starting a DONEx outside .au any more :?:
I'm looking at options for a bit of a "grand tour" next year - here's a vague itinerary that I'm looking at doing:

MEL-xSYD-SCL-EZE-xDFW-SFO-LAX-JFK-MEX//MEX-HAV-MEX//MEX-BCN-xLHR-AMS-HKG-xSYD-MEL

Could be improved with moar domestic LOTFAP sectors, but I'm just throwing ideas around at this point. I tried pricing out of .nz; it was just as expensive. Are there any other non-complicated countries I should try pricing from?

NZ still worth the effort IMHO.

Base cost for DONE4:
  • ex: Oz - AUD11,490
  • ex: NZ - NZD12,499
On the cross rates, the NZ price is ~AUD10,200.

I guess some of us have been reading the circus going on over at the other board.:rolleyes:

When did Darwin end up in South Australia.
