Might be like the old ATC system, phased out with no spares available, it was the only reason we got the new one!

From a nutritional point of view I believe you would be eating the same as 500g of mince beef, as the only difference is H20 which in this context has not nutritional value. Mind you I suspect it pretty hard to get average nutritional readings for mince, the fat content would very considerably.
Most of the fat should have gone while the mince was being cooked/boiled in the frying pan for close to an hour.

I've basically cut out coke and beer during the week, and I'm economising so I'm only eating what I purchase from a supermarket or bring from home while in Sydney. So basically I always feel a bit hungry while away from home and I've lost 5 kg in the last little while.
I mainly eat protein (meat, tuna, ham, egg, peanuts etc) and throw in a glass of milk on weekdays and then some cheese, lettuce, tomato, capsicum, broccoli, cauliflower, onions for some variety.

I do not drink beer during the week (unless it is Brisbane drinks night) and I have cut out most soft drinks except the occasional creaming soda while in Sydney on the weekend.

I do vary the diet slightly and this week I will be having some extra carbohydrates.

My main issue is that I am insulin intolerant and I find it extremely difficult to lose weight. I will be seeing my GP next week at which point I expect to be put on at least 3mg Diaformin daily which may help in my weight loss.

By my calculations I am consuming around 1600 calories/day which is made up of ~120g protein, ~100g fat and ~60 carbohydrates. Ideally I could reduce the fat intake slightly but as the majority is from olive oil it is not so bad. I do ~30 minutes walking a day and I cannot do anything strenuous as my body cannot handle it.

I am starving yet I cannot see any noticeable difference in weight loss although the loss around the waist has been noticeable.

Good on you John, been there doing that.

Since July 2009 I have shed >30 kgs. My GP referred me to a dietician and she showed me what to eat and the portion size. I don't bother counting calories/kilojoules at all.

I am teetotal so that helps.

I now wear size 102 trousers and they are loose, down from 117 and tight.

I walk heaps, now about 5k per day and about 10k on Saturday and Sunday.

Have plateaud a couple of times but just keep plugging away. Another 15k and I will be a happy chappy as will my GP.

How long have you been at it. I think it took me 4 to 6 weeks to lose the 5 kg. But my pants were loose and all. I'm certainly not being systematic about these things but then I don't have other complications with insulin.

About 6 weeks for the current version of the high protein diet.

I eat small portions and try to eat 5-6 times a day.

As an example today I had

- 100ml yoghurt
- ~70g lettuce and small tin of tuna with lemon and olive oil
- 1 boiled egg
- 1 sliced sandwich white bread with ~60g smoked ham, slice of low fat cheese and 1 tomato
- ~30g peanuts
- ~250mL of low fat milk
- ~100g shredded raw cabbage with lemon and olive oil
- ~30g almonds
- ~20g cashews

According to calorie counter I have had

- 1411 calories
- 99g protein
- 79g fat
- 79g net carbohydrates (93g carbohydrates - 14g fibre)

Need to cut down a little on the carbohydrates and fats.

Currently in the MEL Dom J lounge, till midday. If anyone else is around pop over and say hello

How did that work out for you? Did you have to go to the ER to get the bullet removed? :p

Having just spent the past 19 hours in hospital, I'm glad to be back home in my own bed. Will be my new favourite place for the next 10 days. All I need now is someone to wait on me hand and foot.... any takers?

I thought of using a slightly difference word, but I wasn't sure it would fly.

That doesn't sound good. Are you in europe now as well, or am I getting ahead of yourself.

Europe in 12 days, Doc said it's probably going to take me 10 days to get over this with lots of rest..... the clock is ticking! Just as well I've got everything sorted pretty much so the only thing really left to do now is pack.
