To be fair though, on the flight over it didn’t happen, just the way back. so there are some that can’t let go of the past it seems :p

To be somewhat fair, at least they did say "ladies and gentlemen" along with the rest, instead of just "boys and girls". Saying only the latter would be very unprofessional, even if they are trying to portray themselves as an airline where everyone is having fun.

You could be more "neutral" / PC by just saying "everyone" / "everybody".

Power has been out at home since 4am Sunday due to the wind storm. Went to the hairdresser this morning to get my hair washed but am in Canberra tonight. I get to have a proper shower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And do my washing. Then tomorrow it's back to the land of no electricity........

One lucky thing is we have an old phone so we're still getting phone calls unlike our friends who all own fancy pants phones that require electricity.

For those of you who do the cruising thing, I hope this hasn't happened to you:

This is footage which has just become available, purported to be from a July 2008 incident aboard the P&O Pacific Sun.

According to an NZ Herald report at the time, it was pretty wild:

P&O cruises said the ship Pacific Sun was hit by 7 metre swells and 50 knot winds when it suddenly rolled 600km north of Auckland just before 8pm yesterday.

Ouch!

I love companies who have confident thoughts and are positive about the future or is that just smart marketing?

"Whilst double dips and roller-coaster balance sheets belie their funfair parlour, Australia’s Technology Industry at least, appears ready to hop back on the merry-go-round of a candidate skill short market. We’ll explore whether this is myth or reality, and what we should be doing in either scenario."

Well this is turning out to be an exciting DONE.For the second time a bag failed to turn up on the carousel. This time AA decided to send 1 from SFO to MIA rather than to LAX.Told it should be with us tomorrow.

Currently stranded in NTL due to storms in Sydney, fingers crossed that I make QF 87 to make QF 29 to enjoy my F upgrade. On the positive side the barmaid in the " Aeropelican lounge " asked me to take a sip of my chardy so she could fill up the glass and finish the bottle ;)

Is this the inaugural post from the NTL Aeropelican Lounge?

I hope from your silence you made it out!

My tonsils have been killing me for 3 days now. I haven't had a look but they feel like rhey are as big as golf balls. Serves me right for drinking cold beer on Saturday for 14 hours. :(

Can't wait for dad to arrive in BNE tomorrow night with some extra strength Amoxil capsules for me. :)

Need to bring back 100+ Amoxil capsules (or equivalent) and Rulide when I return from Thailand in a few weeks. I cannot seem to be able to avoid getting tonsilitis, laryngitis or pharyingitis 3-4 times a year. :(

Drinking regularly can tend to have that effect on people :p

Get well soon; I am lucky that I don't get tonsillitis, but my dad and brother get it more than I do, I am more likely to get a cold which then ends up effecting my lungs more, so it depends on which part of your body is effected more.

Importantly I hope you are better for Brisbane drinks next week.

First news story of the morning, must be a slow news day. :p

It has been 10 years since the opening ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

I am sure most of Australia was glued to the TV on the Friday night 15 September 2000.

Did anyone go to any of the events.

I flew down to Sydney for 4 days and watched a few events, Basketball, Baseball, mountain biking, sailing and Fencing.

I am hoping to get across to the UK for the London 2012 Olympics.

10 years is a long time, Australian Frequent flyer wasn't even around then.

Tonsils - overrated. I had mine removed when I was 12.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I was never advised that it is much easier to remove tonsils while you are young until I was an adult and had constant issues with tonsilitis.

I hope so but need to stay away from those jugs or at least keep a track of how much one has had to drink. :(
