I was happy with the Melbourne Cup today. Had my eye on Americain and bet on the nag, along with a couple of long shots, and some boxed trifectas.

Walked away with > $400 profit, so happy.

Found a job About to head off for my first day. Tomorrow, which will be my 2nd day... has a lovely tube strike to contend with (2nd one since I've been here :evil. Thanks TFL!

I didn’t get round to betting but I think I chose the horse that came last anyway, so all’s well that ends well.

Does anyone know if the stuff (specifically, there's some jewelry there) sold in the shop in the SYD T3 QP is available at other QPs (specifically, the little shop in MEL is the only other one I can think of with a shop inside the QP?) There's something there specifically I want to buy but dont know where else to find it. I dont have a trip to SYD until after the date I need it by. I know, I should have bought it a month ago when I was there....

I suppose I could try and ring them and have it mailed?

I guess the other is to ask if anyone knows - there were some "iron ore" pieces (polished, looked nice, not too expensive) - any ideas where else they might be avaialble. I cant recall the brand - perhaps if someone is in the T3 SYD QP they could have a look and tell me the brand name so I can go interweb hunting?

I know water is not free.

There was no choc chip biscuit on todays flight but something equally as good. I will have to post a picture later.

AFAIK you shoud still be able to get drink coupons if you want 'em, for the 'premium' stuff (and water I guess).
