Anyone out and about this evening, there is a lunar eclipse happening around 7.30 pm (Melbourne/Sydney). Unfortunately its before sunset, but the expectation is the moon will take on a pink/red colour (thanks to pollution!).

Thanks oz_mark. I suspect the overcast will put a dampener on it for us.

I am now an uncle with my eldest sister having given birth to a beautiful girl, 3.5kg 51cm :p Nice little Christmas present!

I won't put this in a specialist thread, as it's typical journalism of a low level.

After six hours on tarmac, family sent home ... only to see their plane take off on live TV

Looks like QF32 (Sat's flight) did fly on Sunday
QF32 London (Heathrow) Singapore 11:10 (Sat) 11:35 08:00 08:12 (Mon) Landed

Wonder what the full story is...
Probably with those booked that day with some of the delayed pax.The complainant may well have been on the very cheapest ticket and so waits longer.A whole lot os scenarios are possible.Just that this guy thinks he should be the first QF thinks of.

Congratulations Uncle:!:

Hope mother and father are doing well.

I believe they are! The crazy thing is I woke up at 4.30 this morning (London time, obviously!).. and it just happened to be around the time she was born, it was as if I knew

And some photos...

I got a job in Brisbane!!!!!!! I applied yesterday, phone rang in about 3 minutes and an interview was arranged for today. Found out an hour later I have it and start tomorrow. Woot woot! It's in the airport precinct.

Congrats. I'm currently being head-hunted for a role... Role sounds challenging and is something I would like. Can't see there being travel in it though!

Thanks. I was asked what interested me in the job and I mentioned I'm an airline nerd. It's through an agency but I'll be working for an airline.

That must be some kind of record for getting a job, unbelieveably quick.

Congratulations Karen!

I was not sure where else to post this so here tis.

Karens, is this the new job :?:  Are you taking over from Gladys Ingles :?:

Take a look at this film. Fabulous footage, although grainy due to time and bad equipment in those days compared to today, but what nerve this woman had.

Gladys Ingles was a member of a barnstorming troupe called the 13 Black Cats in the 1920s. Ingles was a wing walker; in this film, she shows her fearlessness in classic barnstorming fashion to save an airplane that lost one of its main wheels. Ingles is shown with a replacement wheel being strapped to her back and then off she goes as "Up She Goes," a duet from the era, provides the soundtrack. In the film, Ingles transfers herself from the rescue plane to the one missing the main landing gear tire. She then expertly works herself down to the undercarriage only a few feet from a spinning prop. It's certainly a feat many mechanics wouldn't even try on the ground with the engine running.

Saw it in Fiji, was really interesting to view, especially with clear skies.

Wouldn't that be a "niece little Christmas present" :p

As the baby is a girl, wouldn't that make you an Auntie?

Congratulations.
