What dates can you get that combo? I've only been able to get it to price around £985 for that combo on the dates I'm looking at. The flights it offers for £900 include a long stopover in SIN on the way over to Perth.

Here you go, the 900 GBP ones look to be for departures on the 11th & 12th and returning on the 17th, 18th, 19th, or 20th

There might be others on different dates

Yep, but not offering that specific flight combo. While that flight combination does come up on the dates that show £900, when you go to select the outbound flight it jacks the price up.

I can definitely get that specific combo departing LHR on the 13th of Jan and returning from PER on the 17th of Jan

Oh thank god! You had me thinking that I'd screwed up something

That's OK, everyone thinks I'm nuts for flying 24 hours (and 21 hours back) to spend 2 whole days in Perth!

The things you do for the first born, hey! :) I think it will be a nice surprise.

I'm planning on not telling anyone, then catching a taxi from the airport and arriving home. I bet they'll be shocked!

Hehe, they'll be similar to the ones I got when I was in the UK and flew back to BNE for roughly 24 hours... ;)

So in other words, I'm a typical AFF'er

I was doing OK till my younger sister sent through a video. So cute! That's when I decided I was to get my butt over there.

Yep ;) Actually, I was a little nasty to one of my friends. Should have caught up with her (and did catch up with some other friends), but didn't have enough time etc. So sent her a postcard from Brisbane (of Brisbane) with "Wish you were here".... She had no clue how I'd managed to send her a postcard that was postmarked in Brisbane. :)

:p:lol::!:

Just waiting to get the nod from the new company, finish my contract tomorrow with the company I'm with currently and start a new contract with another company when I get back from EDI :)

The job market is pretty good here for IT, if you have the skills.

Sitting the BNE business lounge having a coke and too many pretzels waiting for QF537 the 2:15pm flight to SYD. Glad I decided to fly early on Christmas Eve instead of the usual late flights.

The JQ flight to DRW is listed as departing 12:15pm with boarding 11:45am.

I was also offered the earlier flight QF535 (I think he said they were offering premium passengers earlier flights today ) but it is only a 737 and I had already seen that it was delayed so refused it. Check-in agent did not believe me so checked and saw that it was only going to leave 10 minutes earlier so not worth it.

Sitting waiting, waiting and thinking about New Year's resolutions and how to get this stupid mobile phone unlocked by Sunday....

Hmm, well I just agreed to a 6mth role here, and I'm sure the paperwork will come through. Pay is good, role is challenging, and it will put me in great stead for a move back to the UK... So any migration back will be delayed now until later this year (at the earliest)

Shame on you! Congrats on the new role though  Had my first ever landing diversion (although I have had a flight turn back an hour into the flight before) last night, made what was only a 1.5 hour flight turn into a really long journey! Have made it to my final destination in the end though so all is good.

Good to hear you found something to suit you.

Rather frustrating when mixed messages are coming left right and centre about these things. The market is starving, the market is saturated. You're not qualified enough, you're overqualified (does there exist such a thing?).

Year has ended for us at university. Using a timeframe of ability to easily get scholarship funding for 3.5 years, I have less than 9 months left on my PhD. It's going to be one of the most intense 9 months of my life, and that's a sheer understatement.

Yeah, I know. Shame on me... lol.

Now to think about heading OS for my break. Still plenty of planning to do - feel like I've done none!

I appear to be an over educated photocopy girl. But not complaining. The work is straight forward and the money is good. The people are friendly. Free parking and free tea and coffee.

Congrats on the 6 month role; does that mean a change of job, or just a more permanent role with the current employer.

I guess you now need to find yourself some more permanent accommodation.

No flying for you, but you still need to get 30SCs to requalify for Platinum.

Did you get the time off to go with your family on their overseas holiday.

Have a good holiday, thanks for the suggestion on the experiencethis website made one Christmas present an easy buy.

And copying from Qantas. "Sharing the Spirit of the Season" have a good Christmas and summer break to all AFF off topic contributors.:)

Different role, different employer.

But then I wouldn't be able to write my book/movie I'm planning .... ;)

Meaning just particular segments of the IT spectrum or generally good? I have a couple more days left on my current contract then am in the market, though a trip to SIN mid-January and the traditionally quiet market then means I won't be rushing into it, but hey, I can get a UK passport so could be tempted to lob over there and give it a look-see. Maybe. :)

It's always an interesting question isn't it! (Kinda like Anatol's comment - "Rather frustrating when mixed messages are coming left right and centre about these things. The market is starving, the market is saturated. You're not qualified enough, you're overqualified" )
