No alcohol on Christmas Day either. It is now 101 days alcohol free. Don't really feel like having any alcohol either.

Will I be able to resist the temptation today in the MEL F Lounge?

Well done! I hope you do.

You’ve done better than me, we had a bottle of Bollinger, Veuve and quite a few Moet’s yesterday, and then about 4 bottles of red. I needed plenty of water before bed, but then slept very well :)

Well done, John

I am surprised Sam is up before lunch time with the amount of alcohol he consumed yesterday.

Congrats. 100 days is good stuff!

I'm currently in MEL F. Pretty quiet in here, you know that it is going to be quiet when you're offered a spa treatment when walking in, and aren't even flying F!

Will probably see you tonight in SIN, or perhaps earlier if my flying bus is delayed.

Well done JohnK! Keep going mate - you're doing a superb job.

A conservative estimate suggests that you drank through at least $500 worth of alcohol (pricing based on getting it at Duty Free / bottleshop, not a bar / restaurant, of course!).

You might be impressed with this ... Apparently Bolli 2000 vintage is now available in the QF F lounges. Brings back memories of LHR T5, although I do miss the 1999!

I am impressed - the last time I was in the F Lounge it was only Bollinger NV. In fact, I can't remember ever having any vintage champagne in the F Lounge! (I thought they would only have the vintage stuff in F on board).

Must be a Christmas treat.

I did enjoy the Grand Annee 1999.

Thanks for the encouragement. :D

It would be nice to be able to have a drink occasionally. I don't yet know whether this is possible for me. I could well be one of those people that cannot have a drink at all.

Hopefully everything is on time and we get to meet up tonight. I shalle send you an sms when I land.

My flying bus has been delayed ... shock horror! When you hear @ 30 mins to departure that they're still in the process of moving the plane to the gate, you know there will be a delay.

Departure revised back 30 mins, but still there's no call to board - so it will be a rolling delay.

Mighty annoying, as the lunch menu @ the lounge beckons, but the boarding call could occur at any stage. I wonder if they do take-aways? ;)

Even though I didn't go to a single F lounge and flew premium only once during my last trip, I had so many chances to indulge in free alcohol of usually good repute, both on board and in lounges. But I often chose to go non-alcoholic.

I think I was "over it" for a while. In some ways, it felt good. Maybe I've found a new level of "moderation".

Once you can't taste anything any more, it's not worth having more alcohol.

I just made sure I drank plenty of water before bed.

We had to save some bottles for NYE/NYD. And another party tomorrow too :)

Of course I didn’t drink all that just on my own, but it wasn’t that large a group of people. Was very nice indeed.

Ah well, another stuffed -up day thanks to JQ taking over the NRT/OOL(BNE) flights. Means a home departure of 3.30pm, stay overnight at Novotel BNE, then 4.30/5.00am start for OOL to meet JQ12 at 6.20am. Used to be able to rise early once, but a 2.30am alarm is not what the body requires now-days.

Hey VA, a New Years resolution for you that will win many friends........

PUT ONE OF YOUR NEWLY ORDERED A330'S ON THE BNE/NRT RUN!!!!!

Cheers Dee

You chose to fly JQ when there were other much better alternatives. ;)

I think you are right. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with having alcohol occasionally as long as it does not rule your life. And once you have had 3-4 then it is time to call it for the night....

VA had some intentions on trying to go to HND instead of NRT. Now that would be a real bonus!

Well tonight I was meant to be staying in Christchurch but a quake at 0200,stronger at 4.9 at 1030 and significant aftershock at 1400.we arrived at 1400.Most of CBD is cordoned off-obvious damage to buildings. We were to be staying at Rydges on Oxford Terrace. It was still open but you could not drive to it-street full of glass from building over the road.Couldn't park anywhere near it so we cancelled and went further south.Staying at Timaru-should be far enough away!

Lucky the iPhone was invented makes these long train journeys less boring. It is a long way for Sam to come up from the Gold Coast for the Brisbane AFF drinks nights held every month.

Went down to the Gold Coast to catch up with another flyertalker (renard)who was in town, and it is just as wet on the Gold Coast as in Brisbane. I wish this summer monsoon would end.
