Glad we did not create a special thread to discuss the 4th test.

Austalia all out for 98!  England 5/348. What an embarassing time to be an Australian supporter.

I wonder if they keep the same team for the final test and dead rubber in Sydney?

Both lil bro arrived in DRW yesterday & SO today & both said the QF in-flight safety video had changed & now features John Travolta in it with a hat on minus the Qantas badge.

Serfty, your android mate that mutates but never manages to quite sit down in 2F still features in it but to a lesser extent I understand.

So the real Captain is out & the Hollywood Captain is in by why does he not have the QF badge anymore? Is JT not really a Qantas Captain anymore?

Perhaps a question for JB747.

Surely it’ll be Pontings last test… but will he resign or get the sack?

very good shareholders rates though.

Do you still bother with that now that PriorityGuest gets discounts off rates anyway?

I don't mind Rydges CHC. They often used to upgrade me to their top floor, which does have good views.

The food in SIN F lounge tonight is very average. Some of the highlights:

* lukewarm soggy spring rolls.
* Pizza type slices, although again lukewarm and featuring tomato and cheese (or something).
* Freshly reconstituted tomato soup, Mmmm can see the MSG (or is that fat) floating on the top.

Pol Rogers is the champers. At least the Tiger is cold and can't be stuffed up!

(OK, they've redeemed themselves. They are walking around food - Wonton Noodles at the moment, and I think they have a different bottle of champers available if you request - certainly some people near me who were being served champagne didn't seem to get POL!)

GRR. I needed some pills today (OTC with no prescription required, but not normally available on shelf) in Singapore. In Australia sometimes you see it on the shelf, sometimes you have to ask for it... anyways:

Went to 4 separate pharmacies, and none of them had a pharmacist on duty! Is it a national day of strikes? ;)

(I'll survive. The particular item will probably be sitting on the shelf in Sri Lanka when I get there!).

What kind of medication did you need?

If it's not completely essential, I'd just ride out the illness or rely on natural "remedies", like rest, plenty of clean water and fresh fruit (especially Vitamin C).

Getting drugs from other countries can sometimes be a real PITA (no puns intended), and sometimes importing them across countries can be prickly, even if you take something which doesn't really need a prescription at all (e.g. paracetamol, which I'm not sure is accepted freely in every country, esp. if you take it out of its packet).

Codeine comes to mind as available OTC but can cause issues going into certain countries.

On an unrelated note, does anyone know if LAG rules apply to domestic segments in the UK? I'm about to head to Heathrow T1 for a flight to EDI on BMI and I vaguely recall that last year, for some reason, they applied LAG rules to our domestic sector on BA from EDI-LHR.

As far as I can gather from LHR's website, the entire LHR complex has the same security requirements. Which essentially means you need to abide by LAG laws.

DfT UK seems to back this up (LAG laws apply to both travel between and within the UK).

Well that's just silly! Looks like I'll be checking my bag in then.

I think this is so. I checked in a couple of times at T5 earlier this year, including LHR-EDI and LHR-ATH, and from memory (sorry, cannot be conclusively sure) there was no difference in security checking between the two...I really don't recall specifics re LAGS, but suspect they were enforced. I was in the habit of dragging everything out for inspection anyway. My 'real' international flight out of LHR went from T3 so can't compare in that regard.

Been a big help eh? :)

Quite impressed with BMI at first glance, premium check-in was well handled and I was even offered an earlier flight (I'm flying on the cheapest ticket).

The lounge entrance is rather nice looking and the decor inside is quite modern. It's pretty much dead in here at the moment, just about have the whole lounge to myself.

Sky News had a feed dedicated to Aussie troops O/S sending messages home to their loved ones.

Whilst those presumably serving in Iraq said in their message "g'day I'm Private so and so serving in the Middle East I'd just like to say g'day to my wife & kids etc etc" ADF serving in Afghanistan actually said so, then named where they were eg Chora Valley, Tarin Kowt, Kandahar etc.

Others were in East Timor and the Solomons on Operation Anode.

They must be fans of Jeff Fenech as heaps of them said "I love yous all".

A couple of years ago Christmas messages were filmed in the Solomons however those members were returning home early December. The military camera team had to return when the new troops were over there to get their Christmas messages.

I have a quick question for anyone who knows Brisbane city well. I have to go to Charlotte Street tonight. I can find a parking station online which will cost me $15 for 1+ hours. What's street parking like in the city? Or should I just suck it up and pay $15?

If it was me I'd be looking a street park, Charlotte st used to have decent parking otherwise look towards Alice, Margaret, or Mary, from memory William st is also pretty good. If you can wait until after about 6pm for the clear ways to finish up. Maybe get someone to walk you back to the car if in Alice St. But I've never had hassles with the gardens even walking into there late at night (or is that early in the morning)

One thing, it has been a good few years since I've parked in Brisbane city.
