If it was me I'd be looking a street park, Charlotte st used to have decent parking otherwise look towards Alice, Margaret, or Mary, from memory William st is also pretty good. If you can wait until after about 6pm for the clear ways to finish up. Maybe get someone to walk you back to the car if in Alice St. But I've never had hassles with the gardens even walking into there late at night (or is that early in the morning)

One thing, it has been a good few years since I've parked in Brisbane city.

Thank you! I'll look for streets with girl names to park in.

There is also William St. But the street in the CBD are all named after kings and queens. The girls are all parallel and run roughly north south and the boys are also parallel and run at right angles to the girls. Albert is terrible for parking. Edward may have some parking but it is also a main type of street. George also has some parking but is a busy street as well.

Surely it’ll be Pontings last test… but will he resign or get the sack?
Why blame Ponting alone?

Hughes and Clarke do not belong there. Hussey was extremely lucky to even be in the series and is the only to score runs. Siddle (avg 31+/wicket) and Hilfenhaus (avg 35+ wicket) are ordinary. Need a slow bowler that can tie up an end to allow the quicks to be rotated properly.

No notable saviours around. Need to schedule some test series against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Scotland, Ireland, Canada and Hong Kong to get some confidence again....

You're right. We should line up the entire Australian cricket team and have them all shot.

And I for one would like to welcome our new English cricket overlords. I'd like to remind them as someone who is not driven by blind patriotism that I am able to gladly support the embarrassment of Australia as a nation of abysmally poor cricket technique and gravely poor sportspersonship.

My view is that Australian cricketers are too concerned about making money, that they have embraced the short forms of the game and forgotten how to play test cricket. Maybe not this series but I have a recent recollection of them only having to bat for a day to hold on to a draw and they couldn't do it.

and gravely poor sportspersonship.
Ignoring that Ashes cricket is played by males - son is still a male child and hence the word should be "sportsperchildship"

I was originally going to say sportsmanship but with "man" there that's not gender neutral so I thought replacing it with "person" was more appropriate. Meh.

It's all over. England finished us off for a spectacular win. Hats off to the Brits for humbling us on our home turf.

Nothing more to say about the Australian team - players or administration - for anything else to say about them wouldn't be insulting enough.

Out playing for the first time in more than a year. Already got two double bogeys and a bogey on a par 3. Excellent for me.

Fairways are wet, bunkers are lakes, but the greens are superb.

Edit: Hit a 56 + 59 = 115 with one par.

Ah but there's the rub - person isn't gender neutral either, a son is a male child. Therefore it has to be perchild.

Ignoring that ashes cricket isn't gender neutral, anyway

Saw the AC/DC Australia's Family Jewels Exhibition at the NT Musuem & Art Gallery at Fannie Bay on Monday arvo. They had all kinds of memorabilia ranging from the original 10 pound assisted passage forms for Malcolm & Angus Young to come to Australia with their family and a cute photo of them when they were little posing with their cousins on a rocking horse in Glasgow.

It also had Bon Scott's British Passport and a letter to his girlfriend he sent whilst on tour in ADL which had some vintage commentary from Bon like "just sitting back watching TV having a quiet one with a couple of bottles and a bag of dope"....."is George still hurt? Silly **** just as well it wasn't a Harley or he probably would've killed himself"....."well that's about all the news so I'll **** off. Ta ta ta I'm off to roll a joint. Bon".

The exhibition is on until 27 Feb & admission is free.

What kind of medication did you need?.

Nah it wasn't anything important. Just something for the travel kit. All sorted in Colombo, and how unsurprising is it that it is < 1/3rd of the price than buying it in Australia (although there is a generic in Australia which is only about 25% more than CMB price).

Codeine is one of the few tabs I wouldn't want to be travelling around with. Panadol (and it's derivatives), I have no issues with.

Oh, and surprisingly enough, finding an insect repellent in SIN that had deet was a little difficult. Again it took a few pharmacies before they had it!

I've had some strange airline food. But my CX meal this morning was downright strange.

It was a 12:30am (yep AM) flight, that was about 3 hours all up. They served dinner. The choice was a chicken rice, or a fish curry.

I went for the fish curry. Bad choice.
It was green (and no not "green thai curry green", but some strange mint type green. Fish was overcooked, There was a section of rice in the middle, and then aloo type side dish of various colours.

I wanted to take a photo, but didn't want to switch phone back on... let's just say it looked like someone had been air sick.

FA recognised me from my previous flight with her (only a couple of days ago). She remembered I was sitting in the same row, but on the other aisle. (She did have to say hello due to CX "meet the OWE guests" policy, so that's one of the reasons). It's a scary world out there!

How out of touch are the Gold Coast councillors ???
Multi-level strip club plan for Surfers Local Gold Coast News | goldcoast.com.au | Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

HELLO! You are talking about Surfers Paradise... About 40 years too late to prevent that image!!

The city council here is run by a lot of old people that seem to be hanging onto life and their jobs somehow. It’s not surprising they’re very much against the idea.

I think it’s a good idea to keep all the sleaze to one spot, and we’ll need a big club come the 2018 Commonwealth Games anyway :p

The mailonline (UK) is reporting on the QLD floods and they have invented the state of "Capricornia". Their map shown here has this new state immediately above QLD.

On a serious note I hope all the QLD AFFers are ok.

Maybe they know something about the introduction of daylight saving that the rest of us dont.....

and +1 I hope all the "Capricornians" are ok.

LOL. Maybe they just know something about the future that we don't currently know... Rabid mayors in the area now known as Capricornia spilt off from Queensland like they keep suggesting every now and again. Daylight saving introduced in Queensland, Capricornia lives 40 years and 1 hour behind.

(oh, and yeah - that's basically what docjames said ! )

It’s going to be such a big let down if that doesn’t happen now, you know :p
