The totally off-topic thread

I know in comparison to ppl who have lost houses and family members and businesses that this is very minor flood complaint however I've just found out that the moving company contracted by my new jobs transitions company was flooded at their storage facility.

Despite them taking delivery 8 days before the floods, my consignment may be amongst about 30 from the particular transition company that was flood damaged, and assessors have only got access today. They containerise consignments and send via trains so there's a chance that it was put on the train, or stacked higher. Maybe a chance that the container seals held and it's okay.

I won't know until the assessors have a chance to go through and look - oh, and all the paper records were lost in the flood too.

Again, I know it's weak to whine about "stuff", and I know there's thousands of people in the same boat but there were many mementos from living and working overseas that can't be replaced and do mean a lot. And some things that insurance can't replace.

And I guess primarily I'm quite angry that the bloody moving company can pick stuff up 8 days before a move, and QR issues not withstanding, leave it for 8 days and then in the path of a flood. And not have a digital back up or some kind of copies off site of their paperwork. I mean, it's not like we didn't know the flood was coming.

It would have been a great opportunity for a funny photo had I taken it - a group of nuns standing in line in the Virgin check-in queue for DJ443 to BNE. Stating the obvious perhaps? ;)

DJ were announcing their inbound flight DJ459 from BNE to DRW was delayed inbound due to having to divert to CNS for a medical emergency. :(

Some Tiger passengers turned up for their DRW/MEL flight which had been cancelled, a scheduled cancellation I understand not just a last minute thing. TT (Aerocare) knew last night it wasn't going as they were telling people who turned up too late (less than 45 mins prior to dep) for the Mon flight the next flight wasn't until Wed. Some mustn't have checked their emails assuming people were in fact sent emails with the sked change.

Lots of ADF at airport travelling on the ASY flight DRW/DXB operated by Hi Fly. Was going through security the same time as the F/A's who wear an aqua blue uniform with some kind of black cap in a style similar to what the Thunderbirds (those darn puppets) wear. The crew are mainly Portuguese but they're getting a few locals now as F/A's.

You are in the middle of nowhere! Did you cycle, swim and then run? :p

There appears to be an error on the Google maps display. Can anyone spot it?

By the way are you making an appearance to drinks or is your flight getting in too late?

once again, qf international advanced seat selection works in my favour. just nabbed 8F on 734 as an NB on a Q bucket fare, for WLG-SYD next Wednesday afternoon

now if only OLCI were half as kind!

8F isn't too shabby at all. Don't forget to ask for the exit rows at checkin as they may not have sold these 'extra legroom seats' yet & they need a minimum of 8 pax in the exit row which is rows 11 & 12 on the 734.

Sure beats 27E PER/DRW doesn't it? :p :p

hehe ;)

But the 1K and 1F I was just handed for my flights PER-SYD and SYD-WLG is even better:!::shock::mrgreen:

Advanced apoligies to those on the flight who deserve to sit in Row 1! Although I'm sure the likely CL/WP sitting next to me won't appreciate the 19 year old in jeans and a t-shirt!

Did anyone notice that I recently hit 1,000 posts.

Now back at work, to pay for all my travels.

Now who did you have to sleep with to get those as a NB? :p Congratulations nevertheless...

As an NB… you’ve just thrown all our ideas of op-ups out the window :p

Back to the drawing board.
