The totally off-topic thread

My thoughts are that 'The Hammer', is a new member who is obviously pushing an agenda that I believe is outside the scope/ideals of AFF. His posts link to 'PIREP.org' and are IMHO inflammatory and inappropriate.

The site he is pushing is 'sold' as a 'THE INTERNATIONAL AVIATION FORUM FOR ALL AVIATION PROFESSIONALS AND ENTHUSIASTS' yet has a total membership of 349 and is certainly not the type of forum that I would find appropriate as a professional pilot.

I believe that closing off his 'forums' was appropriate.

Anyone heard from Yada Yada recently? Still active on FT?

Last posted on 7 November 2006 and last visited AFF morning on 27 November 2006. Very unusual!
I'm still alive, I think.

Work has been absolutely nuts... staff changes (2 people gone and 3 new people started including a senior Financial Controller), opened our new Melbourne office, chasing some big projects in Brisvegas, and desperately trying to finish the 2007 business plan in time to present it to the Executive VP in Singapore next week. I can see myself completing it on the plane on Monday, which happens to be my birthday.

So I've had to tune out of some of the fun things (including AFF) in order to keep up. I just hope to make it to Christmas in one piece! :-|

Glad to hear that you are still OK Peter!

Have a happy birthday on Monday. :)

Thanks John!

I just logged in to QFF and saw that my upgrade to F came through overnight. Happy Birthday to me.

Happy Birthday, Yada Yada. I hope you got it all done before the flight so you can relax and enjoy the trip on such as special day.

How silly of me! You share a birthday with a great person!

My mother.

A belated Happy birthday to Yada Yada; If you flew last night we may have passed each other somewhere over Indonesia.

Thanks Ross! Yes, I did fly - I was on QF31, arrived into SIN approx 22:40. What flight were you on?

The upgrade from J to F was worth it, and surprisingly I scored a 744 that had AVOD and it worked too! I was stunned.

Hey JohnK - congratulations!!! Wow, the milestones are falling quickly now. Well done.

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes!

I had to work most of the trip but it was good to have all that space and an attentive crew looking after me. The meal & wine were sensational, I managed to watch a bit of comedy on the AVOD during the meal, and spent the last 50 mins or so as we approached SIN listening to my new iPod (thanks to Mrs YY & the kids). And the hotel in SIN (Regent) had a birthday cake and card waiting for me on arrival.

JQ30, took off from BKK as you landed (21:40 BKK time, 22:40 in SIN) I probably flew somewhere nearby as you were checking into your hotel.

Next time I'll warn you so you can wave ... :p

Dear Tech Support:

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources.

In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activity. Applications such as Poker Night 10.3 , Football 5.0 , Hunting and Fishing 7.5 , and Racing 3.6.

I can't seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favorite applications. I'm thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0 , but the uninstall doesn't work on Wife 1.0 . Please help!

Thanks,
Troubled User.....

Dear Troubled User:

This is a very common problem that men complain about.

Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING !!! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 7.0 . It is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the system once installed.

You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to not allow this. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under Warnings-Alimony/Child Support . I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0 and work on improving the situation. I suggest installing the background application "Yes Dear" to alleviate software augmentation.

The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE! because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway.

Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep 3.0 , Cook It 1.5 ! and Do Bills 4.2 .

However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program Nag Nag 9.5 . Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0 !

WARNING!!! DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3 . This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system!

Best of luck,
Tech Support

Ok, here is my scenario: I uninstalled wife 1.0 (Fortunately, I installed the version that did not spawn child processes, so system resources returned to normal after the unistall). Problem is girlfriend 8.0 keeps giving pop-ups about upgrading to wife 2.0? what's that about?

It would appear that you still have traces of Wife 1.0 in your system registry.

The best solution would be to reformat your hard disk and install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3! Avoid installing any version after Girlfriend 7.0!

After uninstalling wife 1.0, I did try to re-install girlfriend 7.0, but it seems the installation media I had was corrupt.

Girlfriend 8.0 seems to have a much improved user interface.

This once great thread appears to have imploded.

Can someone please put it out of its misery?
