This once great thread appears to have imploded.

Can someone please put it out of its misery?
Nah, it still has a purpose, see the original post ;)

I thought perhaps we should start this thread, given the discussion over in My Questions about how we have taken the thread about Forum Software totally off topic.

So here in this thread, you can discuss anything that off-topic (as that's the name of the thread, thus whatever is discussed must actually be on-topic). How about that, never being able to go off-topic and haranged by a Moderator  .

So, it doesn't matter whether you want to talk about avatars, my locked 10K post thread, HP's, buses, whatever...it's all for the posting.

Begin my fellow AFF'ers..it will be interesting to see how this thread grows and evolves...it may be more like a chat room. Can we break the thread page counts and post count???

I arrive back from AKL at 7:20am!

As you don't get into SYD until ~10:30am we will miss each other by a few hours. See you at Ozfest.

Shhhhh! I was hoping no-one would notice! ;)

Aha... 900 posts in this thread now. Time for a guessing competition on when it gets to 1,000? I think thadocta should start this one. :D
Who won? wink

We'll just have to keep 'BUMPING' it along :!:
Is it the right protocol to 'BUMP' a thread just for the sake of 'BUMPING'?

I am still not convinced that it is OK to 'BUMP' a thread just for the sake of 'BUMPING'.

It is okay as long as the bump is for the sake of asking if it is okay to bump just for the sake of bumping, but then I guess that means that bump isn't just for the sake of bumping but bumping for the sake of asking about bumping for the sake of bumping.

Crud - I've just bumped.

Going by Lindsay Wilson's OP to this thread (below) bumping is by inference quite ok.

Specifically, so is any post that is either on or off topic; avatars, HP's, buses, whatever, even chatting ...

So it is acceptable to 'BUMP' just for the sake of 'BUMPING'.

I will keep that in mind!

That brings me to a thought; when is a bump not a bump?

i.e. Certainly, JohnK's 18th Jan post was (or had the effect of) a bump by dint of waking it up after a 31 day respite.

Perhaps Lindsay Wilson's 23rd January post was a bump?

Any thoughts?

JohnK's post was a bump in the middle of the night, so does that make Lindsay Wilson's post a bump in the middle of the day?
