Would it still not count towards their weekly prize draws? I know you can still swipe your card under $30 at WW to get into the draws, though have never won.

They have weekly prize draws?

I don't even win a bloody targetted offer from them. Except one time, Big W clothes. I now own Big W t-shirts and trackie daks and the 250 points still hasn't posted. Talk about lose/lose.

They supposedly have a weekly swipe and win, that's meant to get you swiping every time you spend, even if it doesn't meet the minimum.



So they can track what you buy even if its not $30 etc.

This morning I competed in the Sydney City2Surf. There were 85,000 entries the biggest ever run.

I had set a goal of completing the course in under 100 minutes and finished the course in 95 minutes, no I didn't run all the way a few too many hills so room for improvement next year.

Thanks to thewinchester and Leumas for joining me in dinner last night, Sam I think the 2nd glass of red shave 5 minutes off the time.

Thanks also to another AFFer who I received a guide to City2surf from the Sydney Morning Herald from a few weeks back. So we all live in an online world but it is always good to get something in print, especially a map of the start line and the course.

I would love to know who falls for these scams!

If its a Lenovo laptop, then you have a few options when it comes to a fresh install/rebuild.

....

In fact, just last week I reinstalled my old T61 back to Windows XP as it shipped form the factory, then applied all the windows updates and reinstalled necessary apps and it was ready for the kids to use for homework etc.
Thanks for the advice but there in lies the problem. I only have mobile broadband and to get all the updates in the past 12 months is going to kill my usage and plus I do not think mobile broadband could handle it anyway.

I still have no idea what has happened. After the desktop has loaded it takes ~10-15 minutes to load gadgets and to be able to start up internet explorer. Most applications including IE hang/freeze every so often.

I had a look and there were no Microsoft updates that could have caused the issue.

I do not have a virus.

The hardware is fine.

There is no logical explanation for what is happening....

Grab an optus SIM and jump on their casual by day all you can eat plan, cost you $3 per day.

Thanks. Sounds reasonable although I am not too sure if it would be stable enough to download around 1GB continuously.

It am amazed at the thought that goes into generating Telcos money yet they cannot be bothered to back that up with half decent service.

It's quite rare that there isn't logical explanation (intermittent errors are a possible candidate); just some situations are difficult to find the root causes, and in cases it can be difficult to reproduce the problem (i.e.
relying on a precise sequence of events and consequences)

The greater share of computer solutions compensates for this by providing mainly targeted or blanket solutions. The first only eliminates some problems; the second is usually a "baby with bath water" method (short of buying a new computer).

Perhaps it's time to get a second opinion?

Or go to Macdonalds and hook into their free wireless

Why? It is only 1 GB and the updates are actually a number of smaller files. Every week I use Dropbox to send out a 1.2+ GB file via 3G

True although second opinions cost money.

If I cannot find simple solution then I guess I can live with ~10-15 minute wait for boot and only boot up once or twice a week.

Well you have done quite well then. I have used both 3 Mobile and Vodafone and neither of these would handle that sort of download without some glitches along the way.

I've used virgin mobile (Optus network) and Telstra.

Maccas is quota limited, the quota being bound to the MAC address of the WIFI adaptor, from memory it's 100mb. I find Optus comparable to Telstra in West End mostly, although it varies when events are on.

Have to get out the atlas and see if Spain is near Nigeria, just got a new laptop so I dont think I will bother with a claim, and I am a bit surprised at the spelling in the email address:
