I don't have a problem with needles, being a type 2 diabetic means a pin prick 4 times a day and monthly check ups and 3 monthly blood tests for HBA1C ,cholesterol, etc.
Cheers

Australia go 2 up against India.Hilfy gets 5.Clarke takes Tendulkar's wicket.
Now for some consistency.
Very nice although I would not be holding out too much hope on consistency.

Weren't they 3/37 and then 1/612!

LiamR + others, I feel and share your concern - I have had a pathological fear of IV's (and having blood tests) since I was 13. I shudder just thinking about the reason and break out in a cold sweat. Waking up in the middle of an operation and tapping my anaesthiologist on his hand (because I couldnt scream from the pain with a tube down my throat). That is enough....

My worst experience subsequently was sitting next to my wife in my doctors surgery and being told by my doctor that I needed to have blood tests - I fainted there and then, woke up wondering why I was looking up at them and needless to say, a bit

I've had some strange looks from doctors and nurses - I was in the Wesley Hospital having a PET scan and when the nurses tried to inject me, my blood pressure went through the floor and because of the decaying nature of the ingredients in the injection, I told them the only way they were going to get it into me was via my foot. They had to run around to find a doctor who had ever done one there - none of the nurses had.

I never used to have a problem with injections or blood samples, but a couple of adverse reactions to injections put paid to that.

But maybe I am getting over it. Things went well at my last blood test....

I know exactly how you feel LW, can you imagine my pain when getting a call from CASA saying "Sorry, we've lost your blood test results, you'll have to go get another, but don't worry, we'll pay for it!"

Gosh, injection via foot. That sounds even worse to me. *shuuders*

I'm freaking out now because my GP told me the other day I might have to get some surgery on my back in the next 5-10yrs.

I always request copies of my BT's to be sent to multiple doctors and generally get a copy from my friendly "I fainted on him" doctor. Never have that problem of being lost...thankfully .

Trust me, it was actually one of the best ones I have ever had. Lying down, not looking and my veins there were fine.

At least you have a long time to look forward to it...

YeeOuch!! What an unpleasant memory!
Good thing the docs can use pee & spit & even breath for some tests nowadays,
Never had the saliva tests, but urine are fairly normal for insurance purposes these days.

& for the other, well there are good drugs that will make you not care..
Except that the drugs may interfer with the results :?:

Good way to conceal your track marks ;)

I would share the reason for me fear of dentists, but recalling the facts will likley have me passed out over my keyboard

I've just thought of an analogy to do with the suggestion of being scared of needles: My feelings about needles are like my feelings about jetstar, I'm not scared of them I just don't like them.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

I don't like needles although needles do not scare me!

I don't like Jetstar and Jetstar terrifies me! :p
