Calling out to the IT help desk again. Any experience with a Samsung windows phone out there? Wife got given one, I have no idea what model. I tried connecting to the home wifi tonight, but it just keeps searching for a network. This expected as I don't broadcast the SSID. However, I could find no way to tell the phone the network name, it just keeps searching (did I say that). Anyone know how to make it let me enter the network name?

Of course you could attempt it the other way. Enable your router to temporarily broadcast the SSID, connect, then switch it back off again.

Yes, wife was given one and left it in the Paradise Lounge in POM. Never seen again. She loved that phone, for no reason I could understand.

Ah yes the Cathay lady.

IIRC she was awarded compensation not because she might have been messed around (or she made a stupid mistake), but there was some issue related to the recorder of the video (a CX staff member) and something to do with recording the video. Might've been something related to shame or defamation or something.

I believe she was accommodated on the next flight.


People seem to know CX as a generous airline (viz. many of the QF elites here getting op-ups on CX), but some others brand CX as a pack a cards that folds too easily. The latest was a chef and his buddies getting a fairly decent (if not excessive, perhaps) amount of compensation after threatening to call the media on CX. Things a tad messy at BNE today will JQ OOL flights diverted to BNE due to bad wx in OOL. At least 5 JQ flights ex BNE cancelled as a lot of cabin crew didn't front for work possibly due to the latest EBA conditions which some are obviously not happy with.

I didn't think the wx was that bad at OOL today, but then again, you only need a light breeze to shut down the airport.

Last flight ex bne to mel on dj got cancelled I think or was overbooked . If I heard the story right pax were being bussed to the gold coast somewhere and departing on dj first thing from ool.

I'd think they would only put on a bus down the coast for a plane load of pax as if they were overbooked by a few seats they would either rebook them on another DJ flight or another carrier. I'm assuming they would put them up in a hotel also.

Only looked to be about 20-odd people. (One of the DJ charter buses).
Perhaps Flight information for DJ352 | Flight Status | Virgin Australia Group of Airlines - Still in the air apparently after a 3 hour delay, or perhaps the people missed a conx to MEL or something like that. No real idea.

(But being bussed 1.5 hours at 11pm, then checking into hotel for a 3am or so wakeup call... Now that would be GREAT!)

I awkoke to a backyard and surrounding roads underwear, as well as a text from Virgin saying all flights this morning have been cancelled/delayed indefinitely. It's my understanding OOL has just re-opened.

So I doubt they've gone anywhere just yet.

Just to rub it in, it's a delightful 26 in Melbourne and if I wasn't working I'd be going for a fly because it's CAVOK!!
