The totally off-topic thread

Ok this is about as off -topic as it gets:
Tip for new players / parents putting contact on school books.
Spray the table with water, lay the contact on the wet table and then cover the books. Dry surface with towel.
No bubbles ever :D
Acknowledgement to a dear netball mum who told me this on the weekend and saved me an inordinate amount of grief :)

Also, don't use the frickin' metallic stuff. Painful. And not very long/wide. Always have a plastic ruler with you. SO glad I only had 5 books to cover. Grace 1 may not be so easy next year.

Or just buy the pre-made book covers from newsagents ...

What is this contact of which you speak. My books got covered with brown paper in primary school. So much easier but not as durable.

I have been on these forums too long if I remember reading the story about the bus.

Firstly when the deal was first offered and what someone was going to do.

Best advise don't mention the b*s. :!:

There was a man who had a love affair with a bus. Not just any bus, this was a special bus. However he cheated and there were serious consequences.

Does anyone actually know what the final chapter was?

The wheels on the bus go round and round
Round and round, round and round

Yes, I had the dubious pleasure of meeting this FT member in the Hilton Times Square. He refused to go into too much detail - either muffled by QF or fearing some kind of retribution?

For those interested, here is the shot before you on the 18th tee on Nudgee South Course. A 150m shot to the middle of the green, with a lake and bunker hungry for your ball. Wonder how many balls the person with the concession to dive the lake gets every year. One of my companions put 2 in there...needless to say, he was a little displeased

Know the hole well.

Look like you had the social tees. The members are directly over the dam.

Nice little challenge after negotiating the previous 17; espacially the walk up the bank of the Dam to the tees.

I often overclub - once ended up nestled on the practice putting green in front of the clubhouse. Many other times was looking for a drop zone

Yes, never an easy hole when one is tiring. Always better to be over (or use the hill to roll back to the green) than to be short.

Although perhaps a little bit too on-topic, I just had some excellent customer service from the Qf call centre, staff member Craig. Thanks Craig!

Trying to book a multi-city, with 2 questions:
1) Why on earth is the same fare and flights on zuji for $150 cheaper?
2) Given the T&Cs say non-upgradeable sale fare, but the little arrows next to the flights I am choosing say "upgradable with points", which of the two is true?

He not only answered my questions (all but one upgradable on points), he helped determine a bug in the multi-city booking engine, found me the cheaper fare and (at my request) waived the assisted booking fee and booked it for me, since it can't be booked by me online... Hooray! Shame about that pesky CC fee though  I paid it anyway, as it gives me FF points and since I'd just saved $150 ;-)

Off-topic, sometimes its great being medical and knowing everyone in town - about 12.45 yesterday got motivated (?bored by unemployment) enough to ring for an appointment with a dental surgeon friend. Secretary offered to 'squeeze me in' a half hour later - a bit of a shock since I was still in my PJs! Surgeon agreed wisdom teeth need to come out - and will do them for me at a private hospital with no out-of-pockets fees... TOMORROW  Since I hate dental work, probably better I don't have too long to think about it all...

I lose track of how many times a day I use Windows Calc for these exact calculations ;)

Having just de-registered the Australian entity of my business (makes sense based on a few things for me now), I can't say I have that problem now
