JohnK, have you considered your "luck" with delays reflects more the times that you travel? Fri PM and Sunday PM are notorious.....

If you switch to the 6ams on Saturday/monday you'd have less delays......

No, then he'd get fogged in or at the very least, ATC delays due to traffic volumes :D

He can't win...and he's not a morning person

6am ADL-SYD is consistently delayed due to ATC, DJ more so than QF, but both get hit. They always quote the SYD ATC slot system, but I can't see how that system even works as I've had delayed flights that land pretty much on scheduled time and others that do 3 or 4 circles extra delay. Also we get a 20 or 30 minute ATC delay and invariably the pilot says he'll try to make the time up in the air. Often they pretty much do make it up as well, with descent and prepare the cabin for landing happening at the normal time instead of 20 minutes late.

You are probably right Doc but you know I have not much choice. Saturday and Monday mornings do nothing for me.

By the way SYD-MEL flight has just been cancelled and the bloke behind me was just cursing on the way to front desk. Not good....

Realistically, North Korea didn't need the 'satellite' to ACTUALLY make it into space (or the rocket to hit anything, depending on which propaganda you read!). As long as they can posture for the benefit of the USA/Japan/South Korea/Russia/China and potentially reap food aid/cash/whatever KJU and the party wants in concession for not doing it again or by threats; and they can tell the people whatever they like - as long as the rocket got off the ground and there was no failure over DPRK airspace that the people could witness, they can tell the people whatever they want. And since a lot of this whole rocket debarcle related to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Eternal President Kim Il Sung and the epic 'celebrations' that DPRK had planned, the only thing that the people will be told is that it was a phenomenal success and the rest of the world bows at the feet of the DPRK. Since there's no information to the masses from outside DPRK most locals will never know what the rest of the world thinks of it all.

Unless of course the satellite was to be the start of North Korea's new 4G network? For anyone interested, there IS a mobile network within DPRK. In fact there are 2 - one for (selected monied) locals who can only ring other locals within the country, and one for expats/visiting foreigners who can only ring other foreigners within DPRK, and can (allegedly) ring internationally also. There was definitely NOT 3G/4G or any form of internet access! ;)

EDIT: Forgot to say- if North Korea's rocket managed to take out all of Sarah Jessica Parker's past, current and future movies I'd be all in favour of it succeeding!

What is DPRK? De People's Republic of Korea? :D

The news here just showed North Korean TV reporting that the rocket failed to get into orbit. IMO it benefits them for the rocket to fail. News here has report that they are preparing for a third nuclear test and then followed to say that the world can be less worried about that as they still don't have a rocket to carry a bomb if they succeed. So the "failed" rocket reduces pressure to do something about nuclear testing.

As for destroying sarah JP movies. I disagree, I would destroy Footloose because of Kevin Bacon not sarah Jessica Parker. ;)
