Just over 12 hours to another EY J flight back to Australia. Rubbish seat on leg one. Not sure I'll do this again. (I'm trying to forget I have the flight back from Australia in October to contend with as well!!)

What was so bad about the first seat?

Just wondering - EY J is very highly acclaimed. And more importantly, what are you doing in J? :p

Have to go...I need to ram something large down the throat of the obnoxious American currently shouting about his collegiate athlete son!

Do that...and one from me, too

Times like this you need charteuse and Tobasco sauce.

I know I have a problem when I swore I would not do any more travelling this year for myself in order to save...then I go hand over the $600-odd and 9900pts to VA for return A330 J PER-MEL-PER! Pity there is nothing PER-xSYD-MEL vv, I would have liked to try the B737 too. Never mind, I am very much looking forward to this and comparing it to my recent experiences of EK J (pretty cough), QF TT/dom J (decent) and QF Y+ (excellent).

One of the few NASCAR races I sleep in and miss and who wins....Marcos, arggh!

Good news, although hardly surprising considering the venue!

True, thats what makes it more annoying, worst finish is 3rd at Watkins Glen, soon to be rename Ambrose Glen. Bring on next week, one of the better ovals for RPM.

Unusual event, either the Gov Gen or PM has hitched a ride on a MRTT, KC30A 004 is calling itself Windsor 81! Must of needed the room for the shopping that could not fit in the normal BBJ.

I assume you mean airside. Landside there's usually the McDonalds and the convenience shop in arrivals. Some other cafes start to open at T-3 hrs first departures. Not sure if duty free is open all hours.
Not airside. I was landside and the fast food joints and some coffee shops were open through the night.

Hope you "survived" OK :)
I have a strong, stubborn, character which makes it easier. Survived quite OK with the free wifi from the Qantas lounge (;)) and an hour or so sleep on the bench. Was with another AFFer for most of the time.

Like serfty, I always try and seek out the best spot(s) in AKL I to catch some winks before the early morning check-in. Gotta do that again one day, I'm getting too pampered by F and J :p

I keep thinking of BKK when you relate your experience. There's a set of restaurants landside at BKK which are open through the night. When I was on my status run I couldn't bring myself to sit down and have something to eat there, mainly because I was getting enough "junk" from eating in lounges and the rich food onboard CX J. But apart from that, everywhere there was blank, mostly undisturbed and untrodden space, people were strewn about, waiting for check-in to open for their next flight.

My goodness I was so about to go bonkers every time someone walked on the moving walkways. "<Thai speech> End of the walkway! <beep, beep>"

Incredible images from the latest batch of photographs sent back from the Mars Lander. This camera is totally fantastic.

I'm wearing my Team DYKWIA T shirt...just in case! :p

Please accept my profound apologies, as a pom, for the dreadful closing do.

Come on TonyHancock

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...always look on the bright side of life...

Spice Girls launch their come back!
