How is it possible to deal with incompetence?

Manual bag tags issued TPE-HKG-MNL-HKG-BKK. I have no time anywhere to collect bags and check-in again. I ask at Pier First Class lounge and bags have been identified and will not be sent to MNL but will be put on the HKG-BKK flight when I return. I thought this is great and they have done this for me before.

Just landed in MNL and asked them to check to make sure bags are not here and will instead go to BKK. "Your bags are here sir! They will go MNL-KHG-BKK". :( Why? It was so simple.

Anyway I can see I am going to have more fun later. Must plan these trips better to take into account incompetence....

At least they’re still with you… for now :)

Don't count your chickens until they hatch. ;)

I love suspense and intrigue and the thrill of adventure. Had a pretty good time with all cabin crew on the HKG-MNL-HKG flights and they were disappointed I was not going with them.

This afternoon's baking.
White choc & macadamia blondie & choc coconut slice (from a recipe book from Lime Lounge Cafe in Honiara - anyone been there, or is that too on-topic? ;) )

Looks like the flights next weekend ex ADL won't be too expensive, go the Hawks!

Thanks everyone. We're all rapidly adjusting to the change in life, though the first born is still convinced he's getting a new baby brother soon.

I have a strange feeling my bags are going to take a different route to BKK today. Manual bag tags issued in TPE! :(

John, bags cannot be tagged via the same city more than once so for a complicated itinerary like TPE/xHKG/xMNL/xHKG/BKK what they should have done in TPE is tag your bags TPE/xHKG/MNL & told you to collect your bags recheck them there for the journey MNL/xHKG/BKK as that is the only viable and legal option for such a routing.

As CX (or any airline for that matter) would not have been able to generate thermal bag tags for such a trip containing two transfers through the same city, instead of telling you to collect the bags in MNL they've tried to do you a favour by writing out a manual bag tag for the entire trip.

If you have to take checked luggage & I know you do with golf clubs etc you'd either need to book flights that allow sufficient time in MNL to clear customs & check in again or overnight in MNL. I suspect that cramming 4 flights into one day would not allow a decent transit time in MNL.

FWIW I wouldn't dream of attempting such an itinerary unless I had hand luggage only as IMHO it's just asking for trouble & unnecessary stress.

Well, had a good match, we won. However not entirely convinced that some of the +1's in the team are suitable to socialise with, there's a bit of a "element" there, for want of a better word. Parents have given them a little too much, if you ask me.

Is it any coincidence I just downloaded the entire six seasons of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air:?: :p

Le sigh. Why can't they make portable HDDs (2.5" or smaller) in capacity sizes greater than 1.5TB?

I suppose we've hit a physical limit plateau.

3.5" are cheap and easily available in sizes greater than 2TB, but the big negative is that you either need to plug them into the wall or find some other way to give them extra power to run.

There are 2TB ones around. Seen a Western Digital one in JB or somewhere similar.
