OK. So which one of you was it? Upgrade to premium economy exit row window at check-in!

What a great start to the trip....
I daresay the previous 38K occupant is now sitting somewhere forward of you in Business.

Good luck to them. Could it be this seat was vacant because one has to pay extra to pre-allocate? I had a quick look this morning and most economy exit rows were available on the flight.

Funny story at check-in. She tells me I am travelling in premium economy today and had 38K on the screen and then it disappeared. She had an interesting chat with the seating supervisor to get seat back.

PE don't have to pay to reserve that seat ... it's one of the first to go ... ;)

Well even better for me then. :p

What odds an upgrade on CX tonight out of exit row economy? Record is 0 from 5!

Have a good trip John.

Note to self, need to get that large sale in USD processed today, with JK OS the dollar will fall!

I think you are safe for now. Still over 32THB to the AUD which is a good rate.

Next trip is in December which is the one I am worried about as that is not a good time generally for the AUD.

Just skimming the Advertiser (aka the bum wipe), apparently the first emirates aircraft was in Adelaide yesterday. Piloted by a crows supporter from Port Pirie. He must have got out of that town early to be capable of the higher brain functions required of pilots. Or he didn't breathe or eat during childhood.

We went to see Kelly at the Cremorne at QPAC last night - very interesting. Parking was a NIGHTMARE. All QPAC garages full, and the Southbank ones, too. Thanks goodness for the new entrance into the Convention Centre and parking there. Ended up being a quicker walk to the Cremorne than if we'd found a spot at Southbank.

Kelly - quite interesting play about "what if" Dan Kelly hadn't died in the siege at Bowral and had actually lived and escaped to live in Ipswich (there are claims a bloke buried there in 1948 was Dan Kelly). He visits his brother, Ned, on the night before Ned's hanging. They discuss cowardice, bravery, use a fair number of swear words (did they swear back then?? ;) ). Found it fascinating that the gaol guard kept calling Ned "Irish"; have noticed a similar attitude from my FIL. Until after 11yrs of being his DIL, I not-too-gently reminded him the reason he went to my Grandfather's funeral in a Catholic church is because his family is Irish Catholic (and not Italian or Polish Catholic - and yes, there are other kinds of Catholic out there).

After party was nice as always, chit chats with people. Very hard to hear some of the speeches from the outside terrace, especially when they were competing with the act playing in the Spiegeltent below.
The Chinese lanterns and fairy lights in the area around the Spiegeltent were just beautiful ...

I saw an ad at London Victoria station yesterday showing the new flights to/from Adelaide on EK.

I got the feeling that 80K (my old seat) was vacant. Went downstairs for ~5 minutes mid-flight and it appeared the seat was not occupied. There was a bag on floor in front of seat, pillow on seat and tray table half out with a drink and appeared to be used by gent in 80J.

Really strange experience as well with 3 separate greetings from what appeared to be various CSMs in flight and each time addressed by name. Towards the end of flight another came back again to ask if everything was OK.

Aren't newborn babies simply fascinating ? So beautiful and delicately fragile, yet so utterly amazing. My wife and I had an inkling it was a boy, turns out we were both wrong!

Congrats on your little princess

I have a strange feeling my bags are going to take a different route to BKK today. Manual bag tags issued in TPE! :(

Because JohnK is out of town all flights from BNE last night were on time :)

Well bags need holidays too ! (Hope it works out OK!)
How is it possible to deal with incompetence?

Manual bag tags issued TPE-HKG-MNL-HKG-BKK. I have no time anywhere to collect bags and check-in again. I ask at Pier First Class lounge and bags have been identified and will not be sent to MNL but will be put on the HKG-BKK flight when I return. I thought this is great and they have done this for me before.

Just landed in MNL and asked them to check to make sure bags are not here and will instead go to BKK. "Your bags are here sir! They will go MNL-KHG-BKK". :( Why? It was so simple.

Anyway I can see I am going to have more fun later. Must plan these trips better to take into account incompetence....
