Good show LW, nice work, happy days with the family, and it's shows what a great reason it is to look after your skin. I like others here have had my fair share of melanomas cut out, if only I knew to slip slop slap as a kid!

Might be on rather than off topic. Watching and observing with the minute's silence at the Gabba has just perhaps cemented travel plans for November 2018. Back to the little patch of France we know the best, and have observed one Remembrance day and two Anzac days. Just got to be organised enough to book the Novotel at Glisy/Amiens Est, or the Mercure downtown; presuming the 100th anniversary will make Remembrance day as busy as Anzac day has become.

I hope to do that to Katie.A great uncle of mine died in April 1918.He had been at Gallipoli and got a field promotion to Liutenant meaning he led the charge.By one of those great coincidences the Major above him was one of my wifes forebears.
However an even greater coincidence was when my father visited the battlefield. They randomly picked a B&B.The owner asked why they where there and when told says Australian officers had stayed there the night before the battle. She still had the books and it turned out it was where his uncle had stayed on the last night of his life.It will be no chasing of reward points when I go.I have definite accommodation in mind.

What an amazing story drron. Sends shivers up my spine when conincidences like that occur.

I hope to get back to the Menin Gate in Ypres for the last post on Anzac Day one year. They have played it every evening since the end of WWI with the exception of when naz_ Germany occupied the town in WWII - and even then they played it as soon as the Allies retook that end of town.

My grandfather and two great uncles served around Flanders, and all returned. Nobody knows exactly where but I plan to visit Villers Brettenoux next March as a way of playing tribute. As an aside, I credit Keating for playing a part in re-invigorating Anzac Day and Rememborance Day commeration. I'm old enough to remember when those days passed with veterans, paying them due attention and the rest not bothering much.

"Yes, install Chrome as my default browser and Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer – optional."

When are applications going to stop trying to sneak this rubbish into their installs? I saw an Adobe update earlier and just clicked on Download until I realised what it was trying to download. :( I should not have to uncheck....

Did an update for an app I use the other day, carefully unchecked the boxes changing my default search... but then it did it anyway and changed my homepage. Wasn't very happy afterwards.

I like the sound of that B&B!! :) We've stayed at three different hotels in and around Amiens for our past trips; the hotels I've mentioned are not for status or points, just that we like the location or there aren't lots of odd little stairs to lug suitcases up, etc. I'll probably be happy as long as we NEVER stay at the Premiere Class at the back of the Glisy Novotel ever again with a child. Might cope if it's just the two adults.

On Saturday I flew from Brisbane to Singapore and onto Frankfurt. Cabin crew were great on both sectors in PE.

On Sunday I flew FRAnkfurt to AMSterdam on KLM Cityhopper and got to fly on an aircraft that was on my bucket list, a Fokker70. Someone might remember this thread

Read the newspaper and read a bit from the Kindle that I brought last year, rather light and you can add multiple books. One movie I recommend watching is People Like Us has an interesting twist in the movie at the end. The new Panasonic IFE on BNE-SIN was much better than the IFE on the SIN-FRA

Received an email from Qantas asking how the service was. I hate them sending the email so fast.

Photos and updates on Facebook; it is now time for breakfast.

It's our 40th wedding anniversary Saturday week (we were both 21, ridiculously young now, not so then) and I wasn't going to do anything special because we are having a big J class European adventure next March. However, I do tend to do make spur of the moment decisions.

So via Virgin Holidays I've booked flights to Sydney and a night at the Langham (formerly the Observatory), one of the better hotels we have ever stayed at. Total cost is $700. Pretty good value I reckon. I wonder whether if I casually mention that its our 40th when checking in at the Lounge, we will get an upgrade? Worth a punt I suppose. I know better than to actually ask for an upgrade.

Congratulations !

Thanks Rallo. Most people we know divorced well before a milestone like this. My wife is a wonderfully calm, understanding and caring person. Balancing my lack of these characteristics. ;)

Seriously, I'm a very lucky man.

Why? For most people who dont take notes on their flights, QF will get the most accurate feedback if they do the feedback shortly after the flight.

I was in the CBR J lounge this afternoon meeting a fellow AFFer who was returning from a trip to MEL.

There was a major problem for approximately 30 minutes. There were no jaffas!!! Fortunately they were restocked but imagine there being no jaffas? ;)

A good thing this afternoon was the young man walking around with nice warm pretzels offering them to guests in the J lounge. Very nice.

We just celebrated our 16th last month so a way to go yet to hit 40 , have a great time in Sydney.
