Catching up on this thread, so my condolences as well straitman.

Fortunately I've had no deaths - just an apparent double eye operation on my son last Tuesday, to us (lay people) appears that it hasn't worked [now that he has opened his eyes]. MrsLW fired off an email to the surgeon (Professor at UQ) with photos, let's see what he gives us at next Mondays' meeting :o

Sorry to hear about your son's operation.

My thoughts are with Bill and his Family as well.

Pushing good thoughts your way....best of luck.

Not good news Lindsay, hope things turn out well in the end!

Hope it gets sorted. All I remember from Little Miss's similar-but-different surgery at 13mths was her eyes were red, red after surgery. But we were also told for her condition, 3-5 surgeries is typical.
I chatted with Mrs LW about our surgeon at the Surfers do, but I think to a dehree we were lucky with her surgery (she also managed to swap dominant eyes in the leadup to surgery, not too typical).

And to Lindsay and family, best wishes and thoughts, hopefully the meeting next week brings good news not obvious to the layperson, I laugh everytime I think of the last time our sons spent time together with yours most insistent that he was boarding a flight to MKY :), without a BP or FF number!

Glad my Little Miss hasn't been added to the mix. She had packed her suitcase on the weekend a gew times, and wanted me to drive her to the airport so that she could to the airport. Wothout ticket, FF num OR BP! The next time was Fiji on a status run/one night stay ....

My condolences to Bill & family also, my thoughts are with you & your family. Lindsay & family I hope next Monday brings better news for Jack as it sounds ike it's been a rollercoaster ride for all of you. I guess the frustrating part is the waiting until the next appointment.

SO is hunting around for a Hyundai Getz on the on-line car sales sites & stumbled upon one
apparently in NSW & got the response below from the seller that sounds just a teensy bid dodgy!

Besides all the other 'anomalies', his name is allegedly David Board yet the drive/cars guide web
enquiry responds to him as Maximilian TR.

Might ring him later for comedy relief & ask him if I can have a test drive. Would be interesting to
see his reaction if I just happen to be in the area. Weipa no problem! *evil grin*

Hi,
I am Flight Sergeant David Board serving the Royal Australian Air
Force, i have been recently transferred in Mission River QLD 4874. I need to
sell the car fast because in 4 weeks I will be deployed to a different country
and I'll stay there for a while. I'll buy a new one upon return.

The last price for my car is $4,200 AUD (I've lowered the price because I'm running out
of time). The car is road worthy and also has a long rego, clear title, very
well maintained, always garage kept, excellent condition, runs and sounds 100%
perfect with no leaks or noises.

Details:
Registration#:BQ10JE. Just had
it serviced. Mechanically A1 , Km's 62,000.
Rego & RWC Included , the car
is registered in NSW. This is my first time selling a car over the Internet and
i think the best way is to use a third party company that protects buyers and
sellers.

One of my friends here bought a car four months ago, from a different
state and he used a third party company and he was very pleased with their
services. They inspect the car for damages and the mechanical condition before
starting the transaction, they will also give you a 10 days inspection period
(this means that after you receive the car and papers you have 10 days to use it
and if something goes wrong or if the car is not as described by me ,you will
get your money back).

I have all the papers signed and I'm ready to make a deal as soon as possible.
The delivery will take no more than 4 days and the car will be dropped at your
home address . So, if you really want it you can be able to have it in no time.

Let me know if you want to go forward with the transaction so i can give you the
details from the third party company.

Email me back
Have a great day!

Last time I sold a car on the net I was amazed at the number of people working on cargo ships and the like who wanted to buy it for their son/daughter and couldn't get to shore so wanted to use a third party to pay for it. They weren't too keen when I suggested using my own 3rd party!

Well am now in MEL and wow the weather is ballistic. Massive thunderstorms and rain last night and today.

Would you believe I am only waiting on Telstra to connect the phone? It has only been a week so they don't see the urgency. Thank goodness for the wireless internet dongle.

As a logistics project moving is damned hard work, especially by yourself. However, I reckon I did ok, one moving box surplus to requirements and just a little bit of tape left. Can't ask for anything better when obtaining supplies. Now to unpack it all!

Welcome!

If you don't like the weather in Melbourne, just wait a few minutes. After being totally drenched last hour, the sun is now shining so I can dry out.

Reading the headlines today, I came across this article in the top headlines and had to peek at inside

One Direction Clashes With HSC Exams

Then I thought, "You've got to be bl**dy kidding me..."

Of course I was reserving contempt for all those whiny teens.......

<Looks to the heavens and says, "God, why did you create such a bunch of idiots to grace this Earth...">

I'm guessing it will be up to Mummy and Daddy to write a good note for an application of special consideration for these teens, or at least to raise Hell with the school (e.g. legal action, or withdrawal of funding or P&C contribution) if the school refuses to reconsider poor performance or shift the exam dates due to the concert.

Carry On packed, NC headphones charged, iPod charged, iPad charged, iPhone4 charged, iPhone5 charged, blackberry charged, Kindle charged, latest TV and movies downloaded and on USB sticks. I'm about ready for trip number 7 to the UK this year.

Heck there's got to be at least a few potential 2014 first year engineering students affected by this scheduling change. ;)

Nothing wrong with that!

From my perspective, anyway :P. Feels like months since I have been on a plane...reality 16 days...11 days til the next flight! :) (but then bugger all 'til March :()

It's dreary and wet .... :)

Maybe... unless, and I quote them, "[their] lives will be ruined"....

Seriously:?:

The part that infuriates me the most is that they are outright shifting all the blame on this concert and One Direction and not accepting even one iota of responsibility themselves. And that's whether or not they attend the concert or not - just the mere fact the concert is on is apparently materially distracting enough for them.

Bl**dy oath....

Anyone here with senior high school teenage children? What's your take on this?

I think it's sad that they see university as good and no university as ruin. But it seems to me that they should know their stuff when the examines start whereas one month before they should be learning their stuff. So the concert change should be better for them depending on the examine schedule.

Sent from the Throne

I have a very strong view that all students should be required to take a gap year unless they can demonstrate they have a broad range of life experiences and will benefit from immediate university entry. It would do them all good, some might not go to university at a young age but when they do go as mature aged students they will get so much more out of their study.

I know I wouldn't have benefited from university at 17-18 but in my early 30s I got huge benefits and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am also very thankful that social media as it exists now didn't. We've all done things that are better off forgotten by all but the person involved as long as they've learnt the lesson.

I reckon these young people will cringe with embarrassment in 5-10 years when they reread the article.
