All booked .... Flying out late Fri morning, back Sunday night.

Sorting out travel insurance is a PITA though. Out of the two policies I've reviewed closely, both exclude me in the fine print.
1st one requires you to have lived in the UK for six months.
2nd one requires that you are registered with a doctor in the UK (Not sorted yet).

Hmm...

Doh. In other news, phone thingy approved so going to head down and buy a new one now.

Wow, that was very fast !!!!

Did sort out my TI - Went with DirectLine (used them last time I was here. Pricey, but good coverage compared to many on the market).

The only thing I will say is I wish it kept a note of which apps you had installed... I think I've got most of them back, but am sure I've missed one or two..

Google Play should have the list under https://play.google.com/apps

If you configure Android by letting it backup data to Google, I think it automatically downloads them again when you move to a new phone.

You lil ripper, that URL gave me a full history of all my devices.

I do have the backup data in place but didn't seem to pull it all back. Oh well, got it all back up and running now.

What's the general view taken by companies in England if you can't make it back to work on Monday morning due to weather? Are they quite scornful when you ring them and say, "Sorry boss, can't make it in today - I'm snowed in in Copenhagen..."

Well I used to do that a lot when I was working in Brisbane - I'd fly back into BNE from NZ at 7 or 8am and head straight into work. Never got delayed (surprisingly)

But I'd expect most employers here (in my sort of industry) would be relatively accepting of that. Just not every week !!

just about to head off to the airport - Hayman Island today. Will be in the lounge if anyone is about from 10/10:30-11:30. Will be scouting the departures hall/check in counters for suitable people for the club lounge guest pass.

I got a cat. I am not the biggest fan of cats but growing up in the country I always had pets (no cats) and this is the only pet allowed in the apartments. She's cross eyed but lovely, a few years old, ragdoll and probably wont talk to us for a week after we get back.

THe house I was buying back in September is still not exchanged. They failed to have the contract drawn before the sale and it has taken until now to receive the full document. Hopefully we can exchange either while we are away or on Monday so that we can get it by Christmas (it is an investment but my parents will be the tennants and want to move in asap)

I want to go to Longitude 131 has anyone been? is it worth the price?

My experience of flexible working in the UK (I work for a UK owned company and am English) is that culturally working from home and being flexible are not really ingrained in society - maybe it is just my boss. there seems to more of a mentality of counting the hours worked rather than the output.

Personally I am pretty flexible about this sort of stuff. As long as there isn't a mission critical event that you miss then I am confident people do enough work outside of work hours to offset losses like this. However if someone booked flights to Copenhagen in winter risking their attendance at a Board meeting I would not view the booking favourably...

Interesting legal argument, I suspect the legal action being started confirmed she was not deluded!

Lucky I'll never have to go through that kind of dilemma. I already know what my inheritance will be - I've been told. It's nothing.

Just had a bit of a random weird experience on the phone to the Velocity platinum line. Was ringing up to use a comp upgrade on an upcoming flexi. After fixing this up the Rep asked who I would like to nominate for Partner Gold. Say what??? I said are you sure I'm eligible and it doesn't mean "Partner is Gold" AKA Shrek ;)
Thinking on my feet I nominated eldest delinquent daughter.
We'll see what happens, best case scenario that's her Christmas pressie sorted  :p

Will she appreciate the free Gold status? She a frequent traveller like you?

No where near as frequent as me but she has two trips planned for 2013 to SIN and HKG with school friends and VA Status would be handy for her.
I'm not holding my breath as I'm pretty sure it's a software glitch that's saying I'm eligible

Apparently Adelaide is getting free CBD Wifi, really, what happened to the free CBD Wifi known as Citilan launched September 2003, the press are so gulliable, they just hit reprint to every PR release they see and make it look like fact!

Mr Katie jokes now and then that when Little Miss is in grade 6 and goes on the school trip to Canberra, the teachers will be fighting over which one she'll guest/be able to bring into the QP with her. ;) Of course, only if she (we) maintain her current Gold status. :P

I remember when I was younger flying with the family, we would always go into QP or whatever Ansett's lounge was (Golden Wings?) before flights, it took me a few years to work out it was all because of Dad's stupid amount of flying at the time. One of the many things I took for granted at the time.

The internode provided free wifi has been pretty flakey outside of Rundle Mall.

It's pretty common especially with tube / train delays. Also depends on what kind of job you do as well as to whether it makes a difference if you're there at a specific time or not but in all cases I've always found people to be understanding, no questions asked.

I think time's have changed (or it's just your boss). That is very much the accepted norm these days and in fact more people tend to work from home than in the office. Flexi-time is also very common over here.....

The company that I work for, I'd actually say it's the norm to work from home and a good majority of our workforce do tend to.
