Most sports people I've met are rather dense

Though most are very polite and some willing to talk at length, even when outside the professional environment

Goodbye Australia as well.

A great cricketer who stands with the greatest ever. I obviously didn't see Bradman or Harvey, but I'm privileged to have seen (live) icons like Lillee, Marsh, Warne, McGrath, G. Chappell and Gilchrist. Ricky, you hero.

Slow march to the gallows, here. Only 6 wickets left in hand and still about 500 runs to go. That's about an average of a century per remaining wicket (close enough, they aren't all that good).

Best that I can see is Australia pulling off a draw, which of course means somehow surviving for the next two days - also no easy feat by any stretch of the imagination.

Pull off a draw if they can learn to defend a wicket. You don't really do that with a strike rate of 85%. Warner I'm looking at you. It's all well and good to go for a "result" but preferably not when that result is losing.

Reading the scoreboard just now, it looks as if the top & middle order gave up and capitulated. The tail seemed to try and lead a charge not present in their higher order colleagues, to no avail or courage.

Hmm, but I'd rather attempt to recover when I can snuggle under a doona, rather than have to turn the AC on. 39C being predicted for BNE tomorrow.

Yep. Nearly 6 weeks of on and off colds here including an ear infection. Ugh.
