Have just had a bit of fun starting my planning for 2014.We see here a few complaints about the QF codeshares on AA domestic services suggesting you will get a meal in Y.My experience is the opposite.researching Aawards on BA5 in F LHR-NRT.The flight details say only a beverage service-i didn't think BA had gone downhill so far with no meals on a 16 hour flight!:shock::lol::confused:

Well, the winds certainly did pick up -our dogs look nervous every time the garage door rattled and the wind whistled under the doors. Seems to be short sharp bursts and then silence, rinse and repeat.

Everything locked up and off to bed. Wonder how many trees/branches will be down when I wake up tomorrow morning and head out for a walk.

So ... what happens when you run out of beer? ;) :p

You certainly judged my composure well.. I did run out of beer!! & I managed to find a class bottle of Chardonnay in the depths of my kuhlschrank.
My dogs & prized chickens & donkey are now also enjoying the delights of indoor sanctum.
It is & as like a Zoo, but we are are all harmonious

Saw Brisbane at 130 mm of rain at 3.30 am when I looked at the BOM site. That will mean the water traps on the golf courses are back and the dry garden look will be gone.
Stay safe everyone as it has to stop sometime soon. For those who have been flooded let's hope the same style of neighborhood clean up gang comes out to help you.

Still very blowy here in BNE and whilst low grey unbroken cloud, it's not raining at the moment. Anyone who has a water tank that isn't full, must have an enormous one.

Edit: I wrote too soon, rain has returned. Watching the gum trees in the nearby park, the higher level wind is really making the tips sway violently.

I hope everyone is safe.

Looks like Brisbane River is going to flood again tonight but hopefully not as bad as 2011. I believe they released some water last week in preparation which is a good idea.

Landing to the south into MEL last night there were few clouds around and it was just on Sunset with a radiant full Moon rising and the golden Sunset viewable through the A and K windows respectively.

OMG...blue sky and THE SUN (how fleeting, as there is a roll of dark grey clouds coming up behind it).

Got some people further up our street letting water out of their pools

(note to self...think of smart reply after emptying buckets in lounge room)

From the shintaro clan, best wishes and good luck to anyone currently in the QLD / NSW locations currently affected by the terrible weather. Our thoughts are with you at this anxious time as we watch events here on the television in Adelaide. It's hard for us in Adelaide to comprehend such rain & devastation and god only knows how those who are significantly affected can stay positive while rain & wind events continue.

Best wishes folks and hope everything works out soon...

Half an hour of sunshine - back to previous programming. Finally my wife decided to walk the dogs in the break. She will report on Cabbage Tree Creek.

Her brother and s-i-l live in Redbank Plains and they are cut my local creek at the bottom of their street. Their daughter is with her grandparents at Brighton so it doesn't look promising for her to get back home and to school tomorrow. We might have another daughter for a couple of days - my wife WILL be happy as that will mean a day off work for her. The only negative - my niece is a diabetic, so I hope she has enough insulin for an extended stay :o. We can always ring up her doctor (assuming his surgery is open, I think it'll be flooded as well). At least her grandmother can fill the script - she works in a pharmac_.

If schools are open tomorrow, Lindsay! Announcement at 2pm due to let us know if they'll be opening.
